Howdy friendly folks,
I’m having a heck of a time tracking down a replacement brushroll for my Royal 4250 that I’m fixing up to give to a friend. It has the original oilite bushing brushroll that has decided now is the time to be seizing up. It spins by hand, but when I run the machine there’s a smell of burning rubber. So, time for a new roll! And a new belt.
Problem is, I can’t seem to find a suitable replacement going off the model number alone. I’ve run down listings on EZvacuums, Vacuums Inc., eReplacement Parts, Amazon, etc., but nothing seems to fit the dimensions or model of my machine. My searches through the archives lead me to believe that the power nozzles for these machines were built by third-party companies and would - in theory - have the same brushrolls, but for a different brand. Am I thinking correctly here? If so, does anyone know the different power nozzle manufacturers, what machines they were produced for between brands, and which ones have similar enough parts in order for me to be able to find what I’m looking for using different model information than what I have?

Hopefully this all makes sense, basically what I’m trying to do is find a brushroll for my 4250 using a part number from another machine that fits. Or if someone knows a part number for the brushroll I’m looking for, that works too.

Here’s the information for my machine:
12” brushroll
Square ends
Belt on the side, not center

Look for Filter Queen.

So close!

I ordered a Model 88 Filter Queen brushroll, and when it came in I found out that my measurements were wrong! Looks like mine is 11 7/8” (as far as I can measure), and the one that came through is 12 3/4”.
Rats! Back to the drawing board.
Is there a specific model I should be looking for?

You needed to order a brush roll for a Filter Queen 48 Power Nozzle.

4250 Brush roll

The genuine Royal part number for that brush is 3059824000. This is for the brush roll only and not the end caps so I am not sure it would fix your problem. It appears you can still get it on Hesco's website for $37. Have you tried taking the end caps off and oiling it? If your brushes are still good I would try that first. Otherwise as others have noted I would look for a Filter Queen brush.

Success! Thank you vacman1961 for suggesting the Princess 48, that got me further. I found a replacement brushroll on Amazon for $50, I wasn’t finding much luck elsewhere. But today I found one for $20 on CompleteVAC, so whatever. At least the one I ordered fits and works, that’s what matters.

And thank you tylerhawkins84, I’ll definitely try that on the replaced brushroll, I know it has more life left. I’ll keep it as a backup for one of my other Royal power nozzles. Maybe I can replace the end caps, I see those all over the place. Especially since I lost one of the washers on disassembly!

Now it’s almost complete, the last piece I need is the bumper for the power nozzle. I’m looking up bumpers for the Princess 48, but that seems to be scarce as well. Anyone have any tips on where to source a bumper that would fit?
