They used to make a conversion bag to convert C bags machine to A bag machine. It was a new outer jacket, and complete fill tube assembly. We used to convert them all the time (20 years ago). You would most likely start with eBay to find the new bag assembly. I don't remember them coming in any color but white.

It is very easy to convert these cleaners. The whole bottom fill apparatus (bellows and cone) can be removed. Then, a new bellows and top fill tube can be attached . This will enable you to use "A" bags. I have one or two of them. You still can find them on ebay, usually, under (vintage Hoover).
Best of luck. |

If the machine was designed for C bags, then you shouldn't use type A with the new filltube. I tried it once and I tore the vinyl of the bag since there isn't enough room. One user used Y bags when he performed the modification. CLICK HERE TO GO TO repairman's LINK |
