Greetings!

I tried offering this vacuum a couple years back, but the pandemic hit, and no one replied. I'm trying one last time to move this vacuum on to a good home.

It is a Miele S238i from late 1980s/early 1990s. One owner. AFAIK, all parts are there, and working. Cord extends and retracts, main motor works, motor head works, control on the wand works.

The problem is the hose. Though it carries the electric signal to control the motor, it is deteriorated between the coils, so it can't pick up anything.

Offered free of charge to anyone who can pick it up in Northwest NJ (5 min south of I-78). What is in the picture is what you get.

I hope someone can enjoy it, or maybe make one or more others work.

Maybe try listing it on eBay if no one here comes across with this.

Thanks, but I figure if nobody here is interested, ebay won't bring them out.

A few years ago, I gave away a GE washer Dryer set on Automaticwasher.org, so i thought advertising the vacuum here would be best.

Original post from 2020

See Link.

I really can't keep it, but would like to see someone take it who can use it, use parts from it, even break it for parts so others can restore theirs.

If I'd only tried asking a few years earlier, Miele might have had the hose available...

If nobody takes it by mid-March, I'll have to properly recycle/dispose of it.

Thanks,

And are you more than willing to ship this vacuum out to anyone if they would be more than willing to pay for it?

Panasonicvac gets first dibs on the offer, but if he backs out, and you're able to ship it, I'm willing to be next in line on your offer. I never like seeing vacuums thrown out - especially a Miele.

You can have the machine, I wasn't really interested in it.

Shipping...

I'd really rather not ship it, due to the size & weight, but if someone really wants it, is willing to pay for the shipping and packing up front, and understands what they are getting, I'll work with someone.

Since huskyvacs was interested, I did a quick UPS price for a 25# package about the size of a new Meile box, and came up with a $40 price for ground shipped to Indiana. Not sure how accurate that would be, but it's a start.

Near as I can tell, everything works, EXCEPT that the hose is knackered, and is split all along its length, meaning it can't actually vacuum up anything.

If you are familiar with this model, the wand at the business end of the hose has the on/off and speed slider for the motor. The switch on the body only lets the wand work. There is continuity all through the hose for the wand wires, so, once plugged in, and switched on at the body, the slider on the wand turns on and varies the speed of the motor. It also carries current to the power head, which appears to operate well. And when you are done, the cord return works.

If you're still interested after all this, let me know. It'll probably take a couple weeks before I can pack & ship it, but I won't ask for payment until it is ready to go.

Thanks,

Hello viggen76, yes I would still be interested since nobody else replied since the last messages. I have a newer Miele so I am familiar with them. Please include the hose even though its ruined because might need parts off it.

No problem on the wait, whenever you're ready.

Miele

There is a chance that I have this hose with some older NOS parts.Mostly bags, filters, attachments but could be a couple of hoses. With better weather & longer days I will be taking more time at old shop. Will look.

NOS miele---

---and a breif tour of the attic. All must be GONE soon. Bissell first to the dumpster in warmer weather, then hoover elite style parts, then no electric sweepers, then ??.

Jimmy, what's your number? That Miele hose is for the S300 and S400 series. I am claiming first dibs on that!

Rob,

I'm not a Miele expert and above should be most if not all of my Miele inventory. But may have a box for an older canister.Did not see package or part no. for electric hose so you know more of this than I do.

(Above 'no' should be non electric both flat Bissell type and bigger ancient wood box with bellows.)
