Curious about the teal trim

Hi Keither,

This is a real looker! Absolutely gorgeous. It's so handsome that if it were mine, I would be tempted to "accidentally" leave it out when I have guests over. Then I would demo it, they would hear how quiet it is, and they would ask where they can get one. laughing

So are you going to clean your house with this one? LOL. I don't know if I would use it much. I'd probably have to use something else and keep this one in pristine condition! What got you turned on to the model G if you don't mind my asking?

To all thanks for the kind compliments and feedback! Having been raised around the 1205 and Super J series , I was never very fond of the Model G. As a kid I felt that this model looked too old fashioned for me and that the 1205 and Super J were far more advanced! That attitude gradually changed upon my first use of the Model G back in 1995. I developed more of an interest in this model once I joined the groups and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Model G! This custom refurbished G was an experiment that appears to have successfully landed into the hearts of quite a few of you!

Brian Satterwhite with Aerus Electrolux of VA. rebuilt the machine for me and I couldn’t be more pleased. I have a few other machines I use for routine use. My collectible vacs are not used for routine cleaning jobs except for an occasional use of one of the model CBs for heavy duty cleaning around the house.

When i sent my 1205 to brian for restoration he told me there was some one from California that sends there machines to him. I sorta figured it maybe was you. He does excellent work. I have a olympia special im going to send to him in the near future.

Absolutely Beautiful G!

And the color scheme reminds me of the Hospital G. I was 9 years old when I first saw a model G demonstrated by my Uncle Red, who was selling them at the time, and it was the latest model in 1965. I have a turquoise one similar to what my Uncle sold, but my power nozzle (not shown in the pic) and attachments are actually from a 1205. But it is still a pleasure to use, powerful yet quiet.

The first Model G I ever saw was the one that they were using at my daycare. I was about 3 or 4. The machine was probably from about 1965 and it had a power nozzle. I remembering being so amazed and all I wanted to do was watch them use it. Most likely I was probably the only kid there that felt that way. I can't remember if I ever saw the bag door pop open. I just remember them working on the power nozzle a lot probably because it would get clogged often! Later, my aunt had one (no pn) and my sister's mother-in-law had one (again no pn). So later on around 2003 somehow I managed to acquire a Hospital G with a power nozzle off of eBay. It was in pretty good shape and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I remember friends and relatives growing up most of them had Electrolux's 1205, Golden J's, Super J's, and my favorite was the Olympia One. That would be so cool to use a CB to clean your whole house from top to bottom. I have used several different models of those also when my sister and I would clean a church together when I was about 9.

Nice G

That came out beautiful! I’ve painted my G high gloss metallic blue and you may have seen it in past pics I posted on an earlier thread regarding the model G. It looks nice too. Funny just this week, after pondering for a long time possibly getting a Miele because they are so quiet…I said to myself…”oh yeah…if I’m in the mood for something quieter (than my other lux’s) I should just pull out the model G…and sure enough I did just that a few days ago and enjoyed a pleasantly quiet vacuuming experience. I think the sound of the suction from the floor nozzle on the hardwoods was louder than the vacuum itself! I too, having been born in 1969…mostly grew up with the teal model L, 1205, Golden jubilee and Olympia and a model S in “my world” but we did acquire a few G’s from some neighborhood trash and they all always worked. I felt it was a bit “Jetsonesque” over all other models with its unusual and uniquely different handle with the round dimples and turquoise colored body. Hmm this suddenly makes me wonder why Electrolux never had a pink model when pink was made so popular by Lady Bird Johnson. A cream and pink model G would have been lovely at the time! Maybe they didn’t do it since Hoover convertibles used pink during that era ( my play school teacher had a pink Hoover!)

Well my thoughts of getting a Miele have been canceled this week with the realization that I can pull out the G anytime and be perfectly happy.

My Aunt and Uncle had (and actually may still have) a model R and I remember seeing my cousin use it once when I was at their house and I thought it was definitely quieter than my Mom’s model L. Perhaps the R’s had the same motor as the quiet G’s as I think the R was the no frills budget model during the model G early years. So few mentions of the model R here by the way.

I loaned my G to a friend many years ago when her Renaissance crapped out..she had it for about 3 months or so and was preparing to move so some friends had come over to help her pack..The G was out as with packing often cleaning had to occur on and off and she said all of her friends that came over were asking all about the G and what it was and how cool it looked and how they could get one because it really looked like it is high quality! What’s old is new…all over again!

Jon
