The elusive Air-Way Zephyr. Look at the graphics on the blue outer bag. It's an "A" with muscles, streaking its way through the blue sky.
That would make a good tattoo.

Wow I never realized how many colors those Hoover Convertibles came in, seeing them all in one place all lined up is incredible!
Love the idea of all the Kirbys on a corner plinth too, that looks awesome! This is the kind of place you could go to 20 times and always see something different each time! |

The Lewyt Electronic (I call it "the zapper") on the wall with its electric hose and power nozzle is an elusive bird. The Roll-Easy with its copper wands and original hose is one of my favorites. I've been very blessed with friends who want to see a rare original machine in their collection be displayed at the Museum, as so they bestow it upon me and I display it and demonstrate it. That's one of the reasons we turn on and use machines in the collection when people visit. No "Do Not Touch" signs around here.

You are most welcome to visit any time. One of the things we as collectors don't talk about much is the printed literature and owner's manuals. I think they really help round out a collection. Many collectors who visit the Museum take time to look through the huge amount of 'paper' in the collection. The spec sheets, manuals, etc. are all fun as well.

I visited the museum in 2017 when it was still at the other building. I enjoyed it very much, being able to see, touch and play with all the vacuums. Tom and his husband were great hosts. We also had lunch together before I had to be on my way. I would love to make it to his present shop to see all the vacs again.

Yes there is enough positive on here to outweigh the baddies when enough get together and respect one another. For sure.
But hey - with a museum like this - nothing but respect to go around. For people like me still new to collecting - a lot of what's in there I've never even knew about before. I've seen maybe less than 10% of those cleaners float around ebay storefronts over the years. I'm sure for the normal people and non-collectors that walk around there - they likely are a lot like me - had absolutely no idea. When you get into all the little fly-by-night companies and smaller sub brands outside of Hoover, Eureka, Bissell, etc, it's crazy how many vacuum cleaners actually were made over the years. |

This Hoover constellation was the only model they made with the switch in the hose handle. Such a fun little machine to use. It’s one of the first things I plug-in and let people try when they visit the museum.

We would love for you to visit and be part of the Convention this year. Third weekend in September. Last weekend of summer.
The theme to the cleaning contest this year is Power Nozzle Canisters. Bring your favorite machine to enter in the competition. If you don't have one of your own to enter, pick one from the Museum's collection and enter that one. We all have a fun no matter if you bring a machine or not. |
