I just ordered one yesterday. Now, I'll have 2. I was going to give my white one to my cousin (always wanted one), but, it seems, Santa beat me to it. The new, "artisan" is aqua. It'll be a nice addition to the kitchen. A lot of you know that I like to bake a lot. My late grandfather had a bakery. He would have loved these things.
The mixer should arrive in a few days!

I'm sure it will be put to good use.
Now, I'll try to get rid of the white one.
I also have: 2 Kitchenaid hand mixers, a Sunbeam "Vista" stand mixer, a Dormeyer stand mixer, a Sunbeam hand mixer, and a chrome "Dormie" and Sunbeam.
Yes, I bake a lot. It is a Kitchenaid extravaganza around here. Someday, I'll post pics, when I can.

Kitchenaid makes wonderful stand mixers.

Congrats on the new mixer! Aqua sounds like a nice color- wishing you many a good meal from it!

No doubt, many meals will be prepared with it.
And, they'll be enjoyed by many. For THe VCCC convention, I'm making all of the food for the dinner at my house from scratch. I'm sure it will be an appliance fest!!

The problem is that

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
there are too many fab colors from which to choose!!!!
To quote the late, great Jackie (Kennedy),"I'll take one in every color!". Can't with these..too little room, AND too much $$$. But.. I got a great, great, deal on this new one! Amazing.

My ex-wife had one in pearlescent white. She said it was an anniversary edition and thought it was just the be-all and end-all of mixers. All I remember about it is that it was heavy as all get-out and a total pain to haul out of the cabinet and set up on the counter the couple of times a year she used it. But people who have Kitchenaid mixers seem to really love them, sometimes to the point of looking down a bit on people who don't have them, as though they are more serious and accomplished cooks for having one.

I find my vintage Sunbeam Mixmasters to be more than adequate for my modest needs, as well as more cost effective. I just don't use a mixer enough to justify spending $300-$400 on one.

Edgar,

I, too, love the Sunbeams...the older ones. I have a "Vista", that came out of a convent. My little chrome hand mixer also 'does the job'well, too.
As far as spending $$, luckily, thankfully, I got this brand new one for only $100.00
I KNOW, right?
The Kitchenaids are heavy, but good. I like them all.

and, as far as serious cooks,

I made tons of stuff long before I ever bough the 1st Kitchenaid. I'd never think less of anyone who didn't own one, really. Years ago, I treated myself to the white one, and was going to give it to my cousin. But, she received her own this Christmas.
I remember my grandfather using his old Sunbeam mixmaster all the time. Fond memories, indeed.

cake...with only a wooden spoon! An 80 yr old recipe! the ONLY modern thing I do is use Pam 'baking' on the old, square tins.People love that cake. I'll make a few of them for the Scranton convention.

They might be heavy, but they are certainly worth it!

I keep mine on a wire rack just outside my kitchen. A future remodel will include a cabinet with a stand mixer lift inside of it. Rev-a-shelf, among others, make some nice products if you have the "real estate" in your kitchen.

$100 for a new one is a screaming deal! I think I paid about $75 for mine, which had been used sparingly.

They're a great tool, but I certainly don't think they improve meals produced by virtue of use (or think that folks are better for having one). It's all about the cook!

True

It's always about the cook. And, there are some great cooks in here, with or without a KA kitchen appliance.

Happy New Year John!

I love my KA Heavy Duty stand mixer, but it's really better for large recipes. If the recipe calls for creaming a half lb. of butter, it seems to get lost in that big bowl. The paddle presses the butter against the side of the bowl and barely makes contact with the butter anymore. I cam scrape it down when adding other ingredients but it doesn't cream as well as when I use the smaller Sunbeam with beaters instead of the paddles in the KA. Other than that, it's a great tool to have in the kitchen! Billy

I have that problem with my 6-quart bowl lift model, but with the 4 and 1/2 tilt head no issue.

So, a new "replacement" one is coming. There might ,now, be 2 arriving, plus the white one that is already here.

Well, it arrived!

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

I was out of town for a few days, so, I had it delivered to my aunt's.  It was there tonight when I went there for dinner.

I know have a matching white stand mixer, a white hand mixer, and a matching aqua sky stand and hand mixer.

 Perhaps I should get baking....

Did yours come with a flex edge beater? Great attachment to have if it didn’t. Looking at their website they have a new style pastry beater as well. I just had mine out this weekend making a coconut pineapple cake for my friends birthday. Used the KitchenAid hand mixer and the Oster Kitchen Center too. Probably didn’t need to get everything out, but if one has the toys just as well use them!

I have Cobalt Blue. But I took it a step further. I also got the matching blender, Food Processor and Electric Hand Mixer. I also have a Kitchen Utensil set in Cobalt Blue. For offset colors I have the black and stainless steel coffee maker and toaster. They all go well together.

Shoutout for your Sunbeam Vista! I also have one and I love it (at least for use at home)

Kitchenaids are so sturdy and easy to use though, I can't imagine trying to mess with the bowl base on the Vista when I was baking for restaurants/coffee shops. Sounds like you scored a nice addition to your collection

Welcome to dueling mixers.

I'll post pics, hopefully this week.  I got the 'softscrape' paddle before.  It's a great tool.  I also have many of the 'attachments", including the ice cream maker.  I first saw one at Chad's when we went to his home.

I do like the looks of the KitchenAid stand mixers. I haven't seen any in the thrift shops in quite a while, I see the Mixmasters pretty frequently though. I did score a newer K-A 3 speed hand mixer in storm gray at Goodwill a while back though, looked brand new.
