Yes, Jan 2, marked the 39th year of The V.C.C.C. It was co-founded by Alex Taber AND John Lucia. It has evolved over the years. We've made wonderful friends, met great members, have had wonderful conventions, mini meets, etc. So, thanks to our founders, and everyone, go and run your favorite vintage machine............... perhaps one from 1983, when it all began.

Happy Birthday and special Thanks to John and Alex for getting this group started.
As John has mentioned many friendships have been formed.

I miss the conventions and the excitement of seeing everyone's collections. There have been many great people that have led this group to different levels.

Covid has so changed our lives and the ability to travel. Thank goodness for the Facebook groups where we can still see many of the our friends and all of the vacuums.

I am especially reminded of the parents who supported their children and this strange hobby. Barb is the first one to come to mind among many others. She not only supported Scott but also was one of the best convention planners. She wanted to make sure her son had an enjoyable experience.

Many have come and gone and that will always be the case, but the internet keeps us together in many ways now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VCCC!

Thanks for posting this, John. We have A LOT to be thankful for to Alex Taber and John Lucia.

If they hadn't founded the V.C.C.C., there would be no conventions, no mini meets, no newsletters, and who knows whether Vacuumland would have ever been founded. Heck, who knows whether the Facebook groups would even exist today. These 2 guys have helped other collectors share their hobby with others. In a world that a lot of people would think of people collecting vacuums as weird, odd, crazy, etc, and we would be judged and ostracized for it, this website and the V.C.C.C. are a refuge and relief from the real world where we can talk to others and feel at home.

Long live the V.C.C.C. and Vacuumland forever. 😀

Rob

Speaking of newsletters.................

I hope everyone got their Christmas issue by now. I know some are every later getting to your mailboxes. LAST year, it was worse, with the postal service.
Just a friendly reminder: please send in your dues. Some have forgotten (VERY easy to forget), especially when we've not all been together (as a large group) in a while. There IS a reminder IN the newsletter about dues, and Kenny has sent reminders via email. If you didn't receive one, due to dues not paid, it wasn't an oversight OR anyone be rude. It's simply mechanics. When you look at the roster, and see those paid and unpaid, the address labels are made. We did send some 'knowing they simply forgot'. So, check your records, send your dues, and all will be fine. I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday issue. Kim Jo did another great job.

There will be another one in the Spring, then, the 'post-convention', then, Christmas again.

Eureka Co. I'm not sure which vacuum company we'll spotlight next time. Thoughts?

I received my newsletter 2 weeks ago, and just received the reminder for dues in an email today, I’ll send it in at the end of the week.

As for an idea on a spotlight… how about GE?
