I have an Electrolux Silverado with a short in the cord. I hear that it is almost easier just to change the cord winder. I can get a turquoise 1205 cord winder and am wondering if they are interchangeable. Can the grey back on the Silverado separate from the winder itself so I have the correct color on the winder if I use the one with the turquoise back currently on it?

I have never attempted this, a new challenge in 2022!

Thanks.

I am not sure if that part comes off or not. I know I changed one out for a friend and didn't even think of the color..

The Electrolux cord reel separates into its parts. It's actually easy to replace a cord without having to replace anything else. Once the four screws are out and the gray cover is off the reel, you can remove the e-clip and lift out the reel/spring assembly.
