Hello, I recently acquired a spare motor for my Silverado. It was sold as operable, but it arrived with the outer fan housing dented to where it slightly rubs on the fan. Ordinarily I'd just disassemble, remove the dent, and reassemble, but the auction images didn't show that the fan housings are badly rusted. I was able to separate them from the front bearing plate, but I likely will destroy them separating them from one another. I've done it before after days of soaking in penetrating oil, but these are much worse. I tested the motor using the fans and fan housings from an AE motor I'm servicing, so I could be sure it's in good running condition before I request assistance here.
I *could* just leave the motor in a partially-assembled state until I need it, and then pull the needed parts from the dead motor, but I'd rather have this one complete and ready to go.
I will appreciate any assistance you can provide. As an aside, I think it's so cool how these and other parts interchange in motors that were made so many years apart. This should mean that any motor from the AE through the early Silverado could be a donor. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that point. The stationary fans are different, but the motor runs fine with the AE parts.
If you can help, please email me at the address in my profile.
Thanks,
Joel
