Have not been able to find any confirmation. TriStar's website seems up and normal but that doesn't tell us much.

Knowing how idiotic Joe Urso is, I wouldn't put it past him...

Chris, much agreed on Joe Urso! He has single handedly destroyed TWO great vacuum companies, one of which is responsible for the invention of the canister vacuum and regarded as legendary by both consumers and vac shops.

I do have a theory though....I have to wonder if the Aire Jett brand was introduced a few years ago to eventually replace TriStar? Could very possibly be that Aerus felt this was 1 brand that had run it's course. After all, like a lot of DTD brands, there certainly are a lot of stories out on the Internet and in the news over the years of shady dealers and bad dealings.

Well their Aerus L shaped upright is now imported from China, I'm pretty disappointed that they ceased production of their own USA made L shaped uprights. And I could see Aerus retiring the Tristar name, I think it isn't really as popular as it used to be.

Update

I've just been told with confirmation that Tristar is no more and Aerus shifted having vacuum cleaners made overseas.

The new Aerus upright is actually the Perfect (designed and imported by Nationwide Sales and Service, New York). I've been selling the Perfect "copy" of the Aerus for years now with absolutely no problems. In fact, because of the seal between the upper and lower nozzle housings, it's even more powerful on the carpet. Plus the motor they use has over 100 inches of water lift. I only sell the cloth HEPA disposable bags for them, and no dust leakage even in commercial use.

I reply:
To be honest, I'd never heard of Tristar before I joined this list and to date, I've never actually seen one in the flesh. I'd always just thought Tristar was just the name of a movie studio.

I gave them to others. They seemed to like them. Not my thing, naturally.

I wonder why Aerus didn't reach out to ProTeam in the first place and have them make the ProForce 1500XP for them? Aerus or Electrolux back then used to make upright vacuums for ProTeam and then later sold the on-board hose design to ProTeam when they were able to make their own vacuums. That would've made a little more sense to me and I don't see why ProTeam shouldn't make vacuums for Aerus. I think ProTeam would've been more than glad doing so. Not saying that the Perfect DM101 as the Aerus is a bad choice cause I'll admit that it's a good vacuum. I used to sell the green Bissell BG1000 version of it when I used to work at a local vacuum store. However I prefer the ProTeam because it has better features, a longer warranty, and it's a little bit cheaper. But it's still a shame though that Aerus no longer makes an upright vacuum by themselves anymore, especially since they were assembled here in the US which is a plus to me. We're slowly losing more American made vacuums.

"--Electrolux--used to make--"

Their first private label was for Pullman Holt with early Discovery.Rare today.

Another label question

I recently found an Aire-Jet. Is this is another private label? Or a Canadian made machine?

Kenny, it's a private label machine. A former member here who likes to lurk and read the posts, then occasionally email some members, Phil Salvatore, emailed me recently. According to him, Aire Jett was a short lived private label for 2 vac shops in Florida. However, I have to wonder on that, as the company did go to the trouble of making a website for Aire Jett. Either way, that's certainly a rare piece of TriStar history I would hold onto.

“Factory authorized” parts supplier…

I’ve noticed another outfit online which sells bags and parts for Tristar ( see attached link).

They claim to be factory authorized, though I cannot confirm if they’re selling genuine Tristar items or generic “made to fit”.

Kloveland, I just bought one

I used to have several Compact models, and a Tristar  MG1 (A101), all of which I let go, but now reading this thread, I went on eBay looking for a late model Tristar in the best cosmetic condition I could get, and the Aire Jett that was out there yesterday was it, so I grabbed it. One of the Tristars was slightly more powerful at 10 amps for the suction motor vs. 9.5 in the one I bought, but the difference will be negligible in actual use.

I don't have any images yet - just bought it yesterday - but it looks like yours. I will hang onto this one.
