Was looking for a good wind tunnel self propelled since they only just discontinued not too many years ago. Always wanted to try the self propelled on it and it feels really nice. Picked up this one in rather nice condition from a local thrift store and it works almost like brand new!!!!! Here it is pictured alongside with DD Ultra MVP I own, which I would assume was one of its main competitors when the Self zpropelled first launcher in 1997, with brush roll on off feature etc. Only difference is they out ran the dirt devil by about 20-21 years LOL but I an very pleased with it as I've been looking for one in good condition for awhile. The blue contrast the red nicely!!!!!

That's one of the later Windtunnels for sure. That's the version I've been on the lookout for. For some reason, although the older ones are much more detailed in appearance, I like these later ones.
Nice Dirt Devil too! I remember seeing those for sale back in the late 1990s, at a place called Bud's Outlet, which was a sort of discount store operated by Walmart. I recall another version that was blue, and had cord rewind, variable speed, and a little drawer to store extra belts and light bulbs. |

Was the name of the blue one. That I've actually never seen a picture of but would love to!!!!! There's a red ULTRA MVP that had the cord rewind feature too!!!!
As for the Wind tunnel. I actually wanted one of the American made ones for Christmas, but the vacuum was literally in pieces on arrival. I went out the next day and thankfully found this!!!! Even though this was produced under TTI, I still consider it a Maytag machine, minus the motor of course!!!! |

Oh the 100th Anniversary edition Windtunnel, lovely!!! I have one myself.
Yours is the top of the line model, same as mine, with the dual carpet selectors, dirt finder, and power drive. The lower priced model had just one carpet selector and no power drive. I am not sure if the dirt finder was on it too or they removed it. If yours has the wheels with chrome hubcaps, it was made in the North Canton Hoover factory. Ones with solid black wheels were China made. |
