I found an Electrolux little lux II at a thrift store today for $6.50 which is an absolute steal. The one I got was from 1994 according to the date wheel. Does anyone know anything about this Electrolux hand vac because I had never heard of it until today when I found it at the thrift store.

I had one.

Definably not one if Electrolux's finest design's. I'll continue using the Sidekick.

(And for those who don't know me, Caligula was the cat in the picture).

A powerful hand vac, yes, but not my favourite by a longshot. The sideways mounted dust bag is awkward at best. Constantly keeps getting in the way while I'm trying to vacuum. For $6.50 you really can't go wrong, but I would choose a Dirt Devil handvac in heartbeat over this.

I like that model

It’s based on the sidekick and should work the same but it is a bit bulkier with the fan added and the dust bag. They sell for $20 or more on eBay so definitely a good thrift store value. Great for stairs so you don’t have to haul the canister up onto a staircase. I feel it works better than a dirt devil.

I saw one once at a Goodwill years ago. I didn’t get it because I have the sidekick and just don’t have much use for it as we don’t have stairs and the sidekick does fine for the couches.

You've got a II

Yeah the little lux II and onwards were definitely not the best handvacs out there. The bag setup on the 2 is a little awkward as mentioned by others they did later get rid of the bend in the airpath. and putting a zipper in a shake out bag is just asking for leakage.

The first little lux was a rebaged regina dirt magnet they also rebadged some electrikbrooms from them as the lux lite.

I've got one of the later versions of the little lux they got rid of the bend in the airpath and they changed the switch rather than the typical on/off switch it has a switch on the underside of the handle that you need to hold down. other than that they seem to be the same.

I always thought the Little Lux II did a very good job of picking up dog hair. The bag might not be the easiest to clean, but the machine I thought was very good at its job.

My favorite handheld is still the metal Royal Prince 501. It's reasonably powerful and has good ergonomics.
