The Scott & Fetzer Sanitation System was produced from 1928 until 1934. If I know right, this was Jim Kirby's first machine to be convertible from upright to canister operation.
From 1928 to circa 1930, this had the standard outer bag set with the Emtor connector. Then in 1930, a large Emtor was used and that would remain a Kirby feature at large until 1984. Yours has this newer feature present, and the printing on the bag reflects this. Starting about 1932, the safety switch -- which prevents the cleaner from running (provided the machine is plugged in and then switched on) unless something was attached to the front of it -- was added. ~Ben | ||
