Ever since I purchased my Hoover model 28, the brushroll has been very rumbly and to be honest it sounds like it has rocks in it. I tried to disassemble it but I could only get off the brush strips(which are very worn down) and one end cap(which I cleaned and polished to the best of my ability). I am not sure how to get the brushroll's axel out so any help would be appreciated.

unscrew the other endcap. GENTLY pound the other exposed end of the brushroll shaft out with a rubber mallet. should pop out the other end enough to grab it out with pliers or your hands.
then used pliers to hold the shaft in place and unscrew the end cap still stuck to the shaft. you may or may not need another pair of pliers to unscrew the other encap while holding the shaft in place. |

You helped me get the other end cap off! I was going to use pliers at first but I was worried that it would damage the threads on the axel. Well I got it apart and found out that it was loaded with fine dust and some coarse dirt. I also discovered that both thrust bearings were rusted and worn out. If someone can tell me where I can get new thrust bearings I would greatly appreciate it!
