My book store now has 1000s of books for 100s of feet of shelving that need more space which means the vacs in the back room behind the back room need to GO!If you need parts or want to rebuild this is FINAL WARNING on these. Most prices would be $0.00 to $5.00 or whatever metal scrap is.
Pictures soon.

Back Room Vacs

Many Elux tanks, many Generation Kirbys, some other, also at least 3 Rennys,6 CBs and possibly a partridge in a pear tree but soon this room needs to be EMPTY!Some Kirbys are easy fixes mostly needing common parts such as fan, fill tube,PD pedal, etc.I have no time for these.Plastic body Elux go to dumpster, metal to scrap yard.If any interest speak now at 423-268-4841.No E Mail,No voicemail, phone off later in evening and back on next day.

I refurbish vacuums for fun and to make a little money. Typically I go for commercial, high quality, and vintage machines. I’m curious. How much for the guardsman and how much for the brown vintage Kirby?
Also am looking for the following hard to find Kirby parts:
561 original bag with hanger
Grey cord compatible with 561
Legend II handle lock switch (2 needed)
561 emtor
Metal fan (505-ds80)
561 bag guard
Legend II fancase (the metal securing part for the bar broke on one side for a unit I bought)
Legend II cord (2 of them)

The rest of the Kirby parts I need can be found on eBay.

Oldskoolguy

Guardsman(pic 3)-I think this one has crack in plastic base, otherwise very good.Am finding similar metal base as I dig further in back room. Also Royals.
Brown Kirby(pic 6)-I think complete and easy restoration. Each probably $30-40.
I do have a parts bin of metal fans, not labeled.Possibly early Kirby?
Very few Heritage/Legend Kirbys left but MANY older and Generation.Parts or easy restorations. Also MANY hoses, attachments, polishers, renovators,HandiButlers, flex shaft, etc & MORE for MOST Kirbys.
It seems you go between ILL & FLA.Why not stop halfway and choose a car load??

Electrolux Olympia wanted

I see you have a bunch of Olympia’s (Brown and Cream Automatic Control Electrolux’s.)I have a Silverado delux e but the motor is dead and could pair up a decent Olympia with my Silverado’s hose and attachments if you have one whose motor works well and body is in decent shape. The plastic base on my Silverado is broken so I’d be interested in an Olympia with a decent motor AND body if that’s remotely available.

Also I have a nice XXX..and I saw a cord reel on an XXX in a pic. I’d be interested in that…just the removable and unpluggable cord reel to add to my XXX. Do you have any XXX attachment caddy’s that mount to the top?I also like those but don’t have one. I’d gladly pay the shipping for all of this. A working switch off an XXX would be good too for a spare.

Finally I like the attachment caddy’s for the Electrolux uprights if you have any of those. They are convenient for me to keep the attachments for my model L in which I lug up from the basement to the garage and driveway when I want to vacuum out the cars. 2 of those would be great if you have them.

Let me know…my email is in my profile. Thanks, Jon

Jo,

Olympia/Silverado--Most in back room have good body, not sure of motor condition.May still have Silv that was very good except for cracked rear wheels.
XXX-Should have most everything from good XXX,parts, att caddy, cordwinder & parts XXXs.
Elux UR caddy-Yes!I think 2 slightly different versions. Also Kirby caddys from G-3 & newer.(I use G-3 caddys for atts/supplys for Mo G,Panasonic UR & shop vac.)
Will try to look closer but a huge problem is little time for vacs as book store takes much MORE time.Hiring someone to fill a comm dumpster is looking like a better & better option.

Kirby F&G Conversion Bags
Kirby F&G Couplers
Aftermarket Kirby Trim Kits (Preferrably red or blue)

"Do you have--"

bag-don't think so
coupler-possible red one
trim-might be red,blue,tan
These would be at old shop 1 block away.Hoping to sort through much of that soon.

I can help you deal with these and some interest

I can repost this on the two Facebook Electrolux vacuum groups if you’d like letting people know they need to call you but don’t want to do so without asking you if that’s ok first so is that ok?

Also, are you willing to ship if the person interested pays the shipping fees?

Next….I’m likely interested in that Silverado that’s in good shape you mentioned to me earlier I think you said it has cracked back wheels, I have a Silverado with a dead motor that has become a parts donor. I wouldn’t mind a picture of it first though and a definite confirmation the motor sounds good…the shipping will be a lot so I’m on the fence but those things will help make my decision.

Definitely interested in an XXX cord reel and an XXX attachment caddy as my XXX does not have these items and really would like to get them. I am willing to pay the shipping for these of course.

Also looking for the swivel lock rings from Electrolux pigtail hoses. They slide off when you press the snap clips in and sometimes you might need a flat black screwdriver to get it started sliding off.

In case you didn’t realize…Aerus is no longer making parts for most of the metal machines so the parts will really be needed as people restore these machines. Sounds like you don’t have space for them. Have you tried contacting Bryan at Richmond Virginia Aerus. Rvavacuums.com. He may be interested in driving to you and loading up a lot of those Electrolux machines to be parts donors or restore. He specializes in restoring the old models. Call him 804-527-2775.

Jo,

repost-Yes,thanks!This is not meant to be a secret and I have no time to search all the vac groups. Also will be MUCH Kirby stuff & MORE from 20s--90s.
ship-After I receive a low, reasonable price I can take to UPS 1/2 mile away.I may not have time to pack but they do.
Silverado-There were 6 1205 here and a few DJ & newer but most are OO & Silv. Will now be easier to find best ones. There are also XXX,LX & E--G as well as a few more at old building.
parts-Should have good winder & caddy(both were post WWII options)& found a rusty XXX caddy this week but assume you want better.Swivel locks are scarce but may be at old shop.
Doug,
There should be at least 8 CBs in both the back room behind the back room & the back room beside it.Most blue or brown.I do seem to have a very nice stainless tank with good tan bumper but no top assy.

Great

I’ll repost some of this info on the Electrolux groups and perhaps get on to a Kirby group too to post this for you. Hopefully you’ll get some more calls.

Yes, I would DEFINITELY want the XXX Caddy a switch, and a cordwinder. Any of those swivel locks of course and also if there are any Electrolux external PN wire wrap cords for the non electric hoses I’d be interested in those as the pigtail electric hoses are becoming a thing of the past. If they are on hoses, I don’t really want the hoses as usually they are bad unless vinyl.

Upright caddy’s…I know there were a few styles… the one with the port to attach the combo dusting brush on the back side is the optimal one I like.

Jo,

UR caddy-I have a few with upright pigtail hoses. These would be new to near new.
Jason,
(Would the DMC refer to a rare car that we have seen at our Sat night car shows from someone who was better known for the letters G,T & O?)Will take a look at CBs soon. There should be a very nice brown one,a blue with a stain on tank and others in average used condition. Some have replaced plugs and/or cord. Not all have exhaust cover.May be an original CB box upstairs.Few if any original hoses.May have 1 or 2 XIIs,many XXXs,some LX,LXI and may have XX with no bag door.
Alex,
I agree. If any collectors need anything here spring and summer is last chance.I am working with 2 buildings which is 1 to many.I have buyers for old shop if it is EMPTY.(I have been using 2 standard Panasonics for carpet mats at door and agree they are a great upright.)

Thanks Jimmy! Let me know- I'm interested in those for sure. Yes, you are correct on the DMC :) My two passions are vintage Electrolux vacuums and DeLoreans. Not the best picture in the world but attached is what I call my "museum" where I keep my vacuums on display with the car. I've rebuilt several of the vacuums and also rebuilt the car from the ground up.

Ill send you a private message with my contact info if you want to text some pictures of any of it over.

Thanks!

Jason,

I have a few DMC owner magazines and biography/autobiography of Mr & Mrs JZD but unless they are duplicates I keep with my personal auto literature.Vacs look great.Bristol VA Elux factory had similar cases for older models.Do you have post WWII cans of moth crystal, wax, etc with XXX & LX pictures on them?Sorting CBs is number 3 on my list for the day but usually by 12 my day is hopelessly off schedule.

Hey Jimmy

I totally under stand that, I can plan my day and by the time I get to work I may not even be able to start on what I had planned for. On the tin cans, the only one I have right now is one of the Moth Crystals with the XXX on it. I'd be interested in some of those too though if you have any. I didnt realize they made them with the LX on them. I almost bought an Expello can recently for Electrolux machines but it was in such bad shape I passed on it.

Its funny you mention the cases in Bristol- when my local Aerus dealer and I were talking last he was telling me about how the cases looked similar to a display he saw in Kennesaw GA. I believe he said it was one of the Aerus offices there if I'm not mistaken.

Jason,

There should be an extra moth crystal tin. They seem to be the most common.Other tins had liquids with screw cap. There was a glass jar for shampoo and later a spray can for window cleaner.Still no final count on CBs but brown will be the nicest.

The most serious person I have talked to is a scrap metal guy.As I need these out it is almost time to open the back door and load his truck. If collectors don't care I no longer care.
Elux include above mentioned tanks (XXXs - Rennys),older & Discovery uprights, rug washers, newer shampoo/polishers,B-8s,B-6 & older polishers including a polished aluminum model & a Cambridge.Do any care what a Cambridge is?(A pre production Discovery with the experimental foot pedal handle release.)

He won't ship, he expects people to rent a truck and make the drive down there. I asked him 3 yrs. ago about a few attachments and that's what he told me. I live 630 miles away - thats about 3 or 4 day's drive and UHAUL would charge about $1,700 for that much mileage. It's not at all feesable or practical unless you live within his state.

Many collectors sell their vacs & parts on eBay and make serious bank. The one collector I have been following cleared over $900 in just 2 weeks selling old vacs that have not even been restored, $30-$50 for shipping, and people have snatched them up like crazy. He sold virtually every vacuum he put up. 1930's hamilton beach with no handle, no cord, no bag, went for $40 alone. Some Kenmores from just 10 years ago grabbed $60 a pop.

3 or 4 days drive? Do you drive 25mph? That would be like a 6-7 hour drive and it would be your choice to rent a uhaul. A car/SUV would do it for most as a uhaul would seem a bit excessive.
I understand why he doesn’t ship, if he’s giving stuff away for free or for small dollar amounts, and/or only charging shipping there’s the cost of the time for packing and fuel from going to where his stuff is located to the post office.

Time = money to any business owner

Post# 452164 , Reply# 40   4/29/2022 at 08:26 (699 days old) by rugsucker (Elizabethton TN)
"He won't ship--"

Then why have I already packed & taped 2 boxes going 2 states away & found a box for parts going to Canada this morning? As well as needing to call for final arrangements of a vac going across country. As for a few attachments these could be in a few different places requiring extra time to find.Which is why I am sorting vacs & parts by model when time permits.
First of all I have a used book store with 1000s of books that is a full time job.I also do some vac sales, service & supplies such as the Sears/Panasonic UR that needed a cord & Dirt Devil service I had to do yesterday which can be another half to full time job.A job which I will let China & Mr Dyson do more of.EBay which I would love to be back on as with my full time EBay seller who became ill & died would be a full time job.Any EBay sellers here who want a commission on 1000s of items?!?Not to mention I am working out of 2 buildings 1 block apart which is 1 to many!
To clarity what I may have said before-If you are nearby or want a road trip to a nice part of the country put your shipping money in the gas tank and come pick & choose.Otherwise after we speak on phone(no EMail,no voice mail)and choose vacs & parts & I receive a reasonable price I can take items 1/2 mile to UPS(I may not always have time to pack)where you will pay packing, shipping & insurance as you choose.Or the dumpster, emptied daily, is across the parking lot & 3 scrap metal guys are standing by.

Elite

Motors and fans have been used up from once common Elite customer service/repair.I will have some handles, cloth bags, bag compartments, hoods and possible cords but most of this will be second in dumpster, after Bissell, when I have extra time to to clear out.
Hoovers Elites were a good vac in their price range and I feel better than similar Eureka,Singer, etc.

Did you ever come across those Filter Queens? If so do they have the hose with them?

Hi Jimmy I'm wondering if you still happen to have the hoover 63 outer bag assembly in thepictureIcircled?
Also I could use a 63 blower port as well.
Thank you.

"-outer bag-?"

They should all be back in a box somewhere. The last 2 weeks I have had 100s of books coming from 6 places to my bookstore which has left NO time to deal with vacs. Also have 6 repairs from long time customers that I have not had time to finish. It looks like it will SOON be time for any collector that can to pick up at bargain prices or send to dumpster or scrap metal yard!!Any suggestions on emptying a vac shop building with better vacs & parts going to new homes would be welcome!

If you're trying to downsize and sell stuff why do you keep buying and adding more things into your life? I thought you were selling your store to retire, but are opening another one instead?

huskyvacs,

To help all better understand this let me add-
I have had a vac store for 30plus years after working for Electrolux as well as having a long time interest in vacs as most here have had.I have had the bookstore (1 block away in the center of our small town) for 6plus years after having books in antique mall booths as well as having always read(starting with Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn)and collecting books.
I still have long time customers with 'real' vacs that take some of my time.I hope to never rebuild another motor or see another Dyson with clutch or Shark.I will use my Mo G with 4 ply self sealing bag and if the rest of the world wants to dump dry dust out of a bucket and hunt and clean filters they may.I could back up a dumpster and have someone with no vac knowledge 'throw away all upright vacs'.But here that would include AirWay Dirtmaster and Hover 825 and more that would require more time I don't have or as I have asked for any collector who may want a rare vac.

I do want to downsize and continue the bookstore as well as downsize the vacs to a personal collection.Yesterday book customers asked for dictionarys, books on southwest, local books, childrens books, mysteries set in Europe and more that I had and they purchased.I am using a Mo G but would also like to service and use my Roll Easy,Hoover Mo 65 with original deluxe attachmant set and others.
As to adding things that is the way of used bookstores.I may have enough of some books and not have books on beekeeping or Foxfire books or others that are frequently asked for.I don't think I have added 6 vacs in the last year. One was a NICE 1952 Eureka upright. If I drive down the street and see the Retrovac being discussed recently at a yard sale I will stop.
As for retiring would that mean I stop reading or vacuuming the floor?People who do something they like or understand seem to not really 'retire'.

Do you have an intact Hoover 61 hood with lens, or Hoover 61/63 bags? Bojack is ok as long as they match the vacuum and are in ok condition.

I'm looking for a light blue handle grip for my Royal 880. I've been searching online and at local stores, but no luck as yet.
