I threw a dinner party for my close friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. We also unboxed my new Aura CleanMax. I'm going to become a dealer for them, and this was the unveiling.

The power nozzle is a Wessel EBK 340 with a 360 brush roller. So easy to use.

You can't have a friends thanksgiving and new vacuum unveiling with no food. BBQ chicken, dressing, au gratin potatoes, mexican street corn, parker house rolls, green bean almandine, sweet potatoes, slaw, with cookies and cheesecake and mini pecan pies for desert. Along with fresh brewed coffee.

Looks fantastic!

Is this in addition to RoboClean or does it replace it? Are they only sold through brick & mortar dealers, or anyone who wants to direct sell?

The CleanMAX is an updated version of the Roboclean. It adds the lights in the water basin as well as the Ionizing mode during air-wash. It has a 9 speed, double fan motor. It sounds like an old Compact running. Not shrill at all. They are sold by distributors like Rainbow, etc. There are so many people who bring in Rainbows for service that can't be fixed (no parts availability), that it should be easy to sell the new CleanMAX.

I can't help but wonder when soft carpet is fairly prevalent, why do manufacturers chose the EBK340 when they EBK360 would allow it to cope with more carpet types including soft carpet?

I love all of the separator water filtration vacuums. There are so many now. I've lost count.

What do you mean people bring rainbows in and parts aren't available?

Roboclean

I have a roboclean set down here in Florida. We had a big distributor locally for these. They would swap from hyla, Ritello, and roboclean every year depending on who gave them the best price on machines. The funny thing is they didn't know how to fix any of them and that's where I came into the picture. Every time I would pick up their trades I would have some service to do or machines to take back to my shop for repair. At one point I was fixing machines for 3 different distributors. One time they got a batch with bad motors and they all had to be changed before they could sell them. After that I can tell you from experience that out of every 10 machines they would sell, 2 to 3 would come back with a bad motor or some other piece broken like the cord rewinder or hose. The only piece I never got in for service was the powerhead. Now maybe their manufacturing and engineering department got better but in my opinion for what they charged they were not very reliable. One thing that I think that hurt robo and reitello is they would sell them as an air cleaner and people would run them like one on a lower speed for long periods of time. Unfortunately at that time they were carbon brushed motors and would use a board to slow the motor down and it would just eat the brushes and burn up the motor. They really need a motor like the rainbow or hyla with no carbon brushes. Maybe they have changed idk. All those dealers have since left the vac business. It's a really great looking machine and I hope you have great success selling it.

Mark:
D3 and all D4 (SE and PE) major repair parts are unavailable. People bring in 1990 model D4's all the time for service, but we have to turn them away. The bakelite motor parts (critical parts) are unavailable. I need a water machine that I like to be able to sell. The one good thing about selling to someone with an old unrepairable Rainbow is they already know how to use it so it lasts. An in-home sale to someone who has never had one and has been high pressured to buy one, is a totally different customer. This is the first water machine I can remember where the hose swivels in the handle connection. To replace the Hepa, you don't even need a screwdriver. It's wonderful.

Gotcha....

Yea after you said that, I went to Rainvac.com (because they sell every rainbow part imaginable...and a lot of the older rainbows are no longer available.

For many people, their Rainbow is the "good vacuum" they use a few times a year, or once a month for example. They were so expensive people keep them. The D3 came our 41 years ago (I remember unloading that first shipment) The D4 was launched in 1986. Rexair keeps parts for about 20 years after they discontinue a model.

The CleanMAX is a great replacement. With so many upgrades. I love the shampooing part. It's integral to the machine itself, it was designed for washing as well as vacuuming and air cleaning. The EBK 340 with the EBK 360 brush is awesome. Light and easy to use.

So? Does this mean I shouldn't bring my Rexair series A in for service?
I think it's overdue for a service by maybe a couple of years.

I'm one of the few people left in this world who not only has parts for a Series A Rexair, but has the knowledge to completely rebuild the motor from the screws up. I would definitely rebuild a Model A for you.

My two best friends, who also were the two best men at my wedding. Adam rebuilt and restored a Kirby Classic for the Museum. That was his Thanksgiving present to me. I have the most wonderful friends, who come to visit often. There aren't very many vacuum collectors in this world, it's fantastic that we can come together and enjoy this unique hobby.
