I've been in the market for a home after years of renting and this has got me thinking with ownership should also come greater upkeep and as such I thought what machine would be a suitable daily driver? While I like my high performance machines I figured I have plenty of those to cycle through so that wasn't my largest concern

The criteria I used was as followed
- decent carpet cleaning ability
- does well on bare floors with minimal adjustment
- easily used onboard tools
- decent filtration
- low cost of maintenance items
- not overly loud
- decent maneuverability and not overly bulky

There may have been a few machines that met the above but I think this Proteam will be a good match for me. It's a solid machine with pretty good power the biggest issue with them (to my knowledge) is the narrowing air path creates a clog point but avoiding larger objects should reduce the odds of clogging.

I'm unsure of it's age but from what I can tell it's been lightly used. When it arrived the suction motor wasn't running due to an unplugged cable within the machine. It's got a domel motor in it and is, in initial testing, even stronger than the previous sample I've tested. I was seeing about 103 cfm at the hose with about 78" vs the 96 something and 66" I got from the other Proteam 1500 i've measured.

vacs are very well built. They originate from the original Electrolux Lux4000, as Proteam bought the rights to the design in 2003 I believe. I daily a Lux4000 so I have an idea of what it would be like to daily a Proteam upright.

If you prefer uprights in general, you'll find carpet to hard floor transfer consistently easy and the onboard tools very convenient for general dusting and crevice cleaning. In my experience, the Domel motors in the Proteams have alot more suction than the oroginal RJ Johnson motors the Lux has.

What an excellent Choice. A very well built machine that should give you many years of faithful service.

You should get

one of those 12 foot universal hoses (that come with attachments)... Pop the hose off the vac and plug the universal hose in and you can clean everywhere...It's so much better than taking the short hose off an upright and trying to clean with that. Something like this. I use this ALL the freaking time with mine.

Yeah I'd imagine the motor is stronger than what was used in the 4000/6000. From the testing I've done it's stronger than the JEI motor used in the latest guardian upright. Here are the specs at the bag chamber for both. Interestingly the Proteam did better in testing with it's OEM paper bag vs the V.A.C. hepa, it seems the bag collar may be a tish larger on the OEM
Proteam: 113.03 76"
Lux Guardian: 107.37 69"

Now when we get to the nozzle that changes due to the proteam having a narrower airpath:
Proteam: 73.47 16"
Guardian: 79.63 20"

and of course it's not quite as powerful as my Legacy upright with the Henry motor in it but the convenience of the onboard hose makes it a better candidate for a daily driver.

As for the extension hoses, I've got 3. I had two (one for whatever and one for my Metro) but ran across another one for 3.99 recently

Hmm. Looks like they just moved their offices from Boise, Idaho to St. Louis, Missouri.

I've never even seen a ProTeam in the flesh, much less used one but I've had several older Electrolux machines—Discovery II/Plus, Genesis LXe, Epic 3500SR—from which that one evolved. I can say that for my needs they offer the best combination of power, handling and versatility of any upright I own. If I had to live with just one vacuum (perish the thought!), one of my 'Lux uprights would be my first choice. They don't have the brute power of a Kirby but they're far more refined in just about every other way.
