I would have suggested the bearings in the brush roll as well. And you say you have replaced the brush roll? What number to you have the brush roll set at? If you look on the ends, you will see numbers 1-3. The idea is that as the bristles get worn down, you can extend the life of the brush roll by setting them to a higher number with setting 1 being for a brand new brush roll, 2 being for moderate bristle wear, and 3 being for significantly worn bristles. Each higher number sets the brush roll so that the bristles are extended out a little further. If you're using setting 3 with a brand new brush roll, you're creating too much resistance between the bristles and the carpet. If the brush roll is set correctly (and the numbers need to match from one side to the other), you might want to try backing off on the height adjustment a notch or two.

Oh, one more thing to check. Are you using the correct belt? The G series machines use the belt with the knurled inner surface while the older 'pre-G' machines use a belt with a smooth inner surface.

Checkrate/Likes Got an issue with my G7D just going through a belt after just vacuuming my low pile rugs a few times... and I'm talking as SOON as it makes contact with the rug the roller just stops and the belt begins to burn. I thought maybe it was my roller bearings so I swaped it out for a new one with a fresh OEM belt but it's doing the same thing and I cant seem to find anyone else through google who has this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated

Checkrate/Likes I double check everything. Got it set to 1 on both sides, got the newer styled belts with the knurled pattern. I can't go for a higher setting because it's either above the carpet or dies out as soon as it makes contact

Checkrate/Likes *Curious* Is it sealing down hard to the rug? With you using a diamond edition perhaps using the delicate mode is the solution?

Checkrate/Likes Make sure.... 1. the height is properly adjusted 2. you have the brushroll nozzle locked in place and the belt on the shaft properly 3. it is NOT on delicate mode 4. the belts are genuine OEM and not generic (OEM belts with Kirby are not marketing, they do have a special rubber type that can stand up to the high RPM - generic belts cant) 5. the belts are not old stock Other than that I cannot think of much else other than the fiber type of your low pile carpet is catching the brushroll bristles and is stalling out the brushroll. I have low pile in my basement and my G4 and Ultimate G work flawlessly on it.

Checkrate/Likes How does the shaft on the motor look? Could be worn due to grit between the belt and the drive shaft. This is a common condition on vacuums with the round belts. The pulley on the motor wears out to the point that their isn't enough tension on the belt to keep the belts from slipping. I have seen that kind of wear on the shaft of older Kirby's.
