A while back I came across an ad on facebook marketplace for a carwash vacuum. I had considered it but decided against it due to it being about 3 hours away. But recently I've noticed that the listing was still up, and decided ya know....why not how often does the opportunity for one of these come around? I mean who amongst us hasn't thought at some point that it would be so cool to have one of these giant units for ourselves.

So I made the trip out, it just barely fit in the backseat i was considering removing the dome cover and possibly even the motors if need be.

Then stopped to meet up with some collectors in the area I've known but never met before. Went out for lunch and then back to their place to visit. We ended up direct wiring this unit just to see if it worked and it did. It's a parallel dual motor setup and has a seemingly pretty good amount of power. it's 120v with a 15 amp rating.

Due to them no longer having much carpeting, and the vacuums "gathering dust" they very generously offered to give me some machines. Ended up bringing back a Rainbow D3A and a Hoover Celebrity for another area collector.

Anyways....It's a JE Adams unit I cannot tell the model number from what I can tell I think it was made in the 2nd quart of 04. It had been vandalised at some point the coin box was ripped off and I figured it would be easier just to install a rocker switch or two in it. rather than trying to repair the mechanism. It features a filtration system with these upside down cloth bags I think 4 of them in total with a clean out "tray" underneath them.

Absolute madman, wow!

I've never ever ever seen one in someone's personal possession. They usually get used and abused at the car wash then thrown off to the scrapyard. The opportunity to acquire one is pretty rare. Fantastic early 2000s graphics too.

You can easily have a metalworker craft a heavy pedestal base for it to mount it on and keep it in your garage. Will likely last decades and decades in a home environment.

That will make for an interesting conversation piece for sure. There was a coin car wash that I passed on my way to and from work that closed up a couple of months ago. It was one of those manual car washes with multiple stalls. Last week, the building came down but the vacuums were left behind. They're all gone now as well. A sign out front now says a new car wash is coming soon to that site. I have to wonder if any of those vacuums will find their way back there.

Neat and unusual vacuum-makes me think of twin motor bagless central vacuums.A carwash vacuum I found out in Greenville-is a HUGE central vacuum unit that has a 40Hp motor-and the vacuum station you pull your car to have hoses and a filter unit the carwash attendent empties. As I have driven by this-you see
all of the vacuum stations in use. There is a car vacuum at the Sheets "tank&tummy) station that is like the vacuum shown. They also have a carwash-the dryer in it has like 3 15Hp blowers! You can feel your car shake from the wind out of those blowers!
