While I had two of the Regina uprights, complete with attachments I can tell you they were powerful machines.
I've never heard of the Crusader, though I do know that Regina is known for some awesome non-electric and early electric tank/canister vacuums. The history of this company is truly fascinating. They started out as a music box company in Germany in the mid to late 1800's before settling in New Jersey at the turn of the 20th century. There's a great article on Wikipedia, and another on a site called 'Wayback Machine.' The link is in the references at Wikipedia. It's well worth reading. And let me state here that the name Caligula refers to a cat I once had. He's pictured in my avatar. |

Kyle, I have no doubt that your Regina Crusader is a very rare machine! I've seen Regina straight suction uprights, and even have 2 of them, but I have never seen one with a revolving brush! I can't wait to see it after you have restored it. I know it will be absolutely beautiful and run as good as it looks! Here are pics of my model 39 and model 59 with attachments. The 39 runs beautifully, the 59 doesn't run. Congrats on a rare find!

Is the Crusader a 2-speed vacuum with a red or black switch lever? I had a Regina Model 50 and the switch was the same as found on the Hoover One Fifty however its lever was black, my Regina had the red. I sold the switch for use on the One Fifty a few years back. Unfortunately the Model 50 had been dropped by someone and I was not able to repair it properly. The motor was burnt, the fan casing was cracked and the fan was broken. I was once told the straight suction and the revolving brush Regina were intended for commercial use. True or not true???
Good luck with the Crusader and your other vacuums. |

That is the same switch I have in mine…unfortunately it is very broken so I will have to improvise unless I happen across another one sometime soon. |

The plastic over the stem is broken away exposing the metal. Unfortunately it’s just not safe to use
