Okay, now I've it all. Harbor Freight is advertising a 24kt gold plated ratchet for $69.99. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. It's 100 percent pure Harbor Freight quality chinesium, plated in 24 kt gold. No sockets, just the ratchet.

Oh, and the wording of the "lifetime warranty" statement is priceless: Guaranteed to be free from defects for the life of the tool. Think about that one for a second. As soon as the tool breaks, which it will, sooner rather than later because, well, Harbor Freight chinesium, the life of the tool is over and so is the warranty.

Just shaking my head...

How long is the gold plate going to last when the ratchet is thrown into toolbox how many times?

Yeah, and what doesn't get scratched off in the toolbox will simply wear off with use. It's an utterly absurd concept all the way around.

Possibly...

If there were a few "token" sockets to match, you could give as a gag-gift or gag-inducing gift would be more accurate.Other than that,I'm thinking....naaaahh.

A gold-plated ratchet is not intended to be used, or to be thrown around in a toolbox. This is the sort of item a Company might present to say; 'Mechanic of the Year' or 'Tool Salesman of the Month'. Intended for storing in a display case. That's why there's no sockets with it.
