I just got a Bissell “spin wave” floor scrubber. It was $12 at Goodwill. It is missing the solution tank and pads but I was able to order them from evacuumstore.com for a reasonable price. I like how quiet this machine is. Looking forward to trying it out because I LOATHE mopping. I have steamers…three of them and a sponge mop and one of those microfiber pad squirt mops….all of which I rarely use because I just find it boring and they leave streaks on my hardwoods.

With this being motorized and it doing the harder work than just my pushing any of the other mop style across the floor…I’m hoping this one might be “fun to use” and bring “housecleaning pleasure” to the task of mopping the floors.

I’m away from home at the moment but the tank and pads have arrived and when I get home I’ll be trying it all out.

This thing reminds me of the old Hoover or Regina floor scrubbers…but with pads instead of brushes. It also runs substantially slower compared to those. One of my favorite high school jobs was cleaning for one of my paper route customers…I used to wash her kitchen floor and used her pink Hoover floor scrubber to loosen the dirt on her no wax floor. That was back in the 80’s. When she passed away in 2014 her daughter asked if I could help get the house ready for the post memorial service gathering and I said yes and cleaned the house with the Electrolux model L she still had and scrubbed the floor with the pink Hoover scrubber…both likely hadn’t been used much if at all since I left the state in 1993. Anyway..I just loved that Hoover pink scrubber and this Bissell cross wave makes me feel like it’s a modern day application of a vintage appliance.

I was able to download the manual so I can follow the instructions. This one I got is NOT the battery powered one which is fine by me as I prefer the reliability of the corded appliances. Just hoping the pump system isn’t clogged.

Anyone have any experience with these Bissell cross waves?

Jon

Love the SpinWave!

I found mine brand new at a thrift store last year and I use it at least twice a week. I'm with you on mopping; and I'm not a fan of Swiffers either. The SpinWave gets the job done and it's actually pretty relaxing to use, I even bought both of my parents one last Christmas!

My only callout is to keep an eye on the center screws beneath the pads, I've found mine to come loose sometimes and they can scratch the floor.

Hmm

Good to know on the screws. Thanks for the tip. I am looking forward to trying it out when I return home. Glad to know you like it enough to have recommended and gifted it to your parents. My Mom is 84 and has bad arthritis in her hands so doing anything like pushing a stuff or heavy mop is very difficult, exhausting and painful. I’m hoping this will do a nice job to the point she would like one. I’m worried about how easy it is for her to get the bottle on and off though. She can’t open a jar by hand or push or pull anything slightly difficult due to the pain in her hands. She can’t hardly use a squeeze pistol type garden hose nozzle for an example of how bad it is for her. I’m just amazed at how little she can do with her hands. Things we take for granted are nearly impossible for her to do. As a result of my Father assisting her with the difficult items she has lost muscle tone in her hands as well but now my Father is gone forever so she doesn’t have her helper there anymore.

Once I get gone I’ll have to assess that tank.

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

Jon
