I got my Hoover Portapower Commercial a few weeks ago. Now this one I got from Dollarhog on eBay, was slightly used. It's from 2019. Most of the attachments were unused except the floor/rug tool which was a bit dirty.
It was missing the chrome wands, so I ordered some on eBay, and still came out half what a new unit would cost. I am very impressed with the vacuum. I like the history of it as it goes back to 1970. The attachments are wonderful, have the early 1980s design exactly. Fairly soft dusting brush and floor brush and the upholstery tool has the rubber fingers that were orange on the older ones. The long heavy duty orange cord is nice as well. I did wash the reusable cloth bag, which wasn't mentioned in the manual, but it didn't seem to harm it. Anyway, I think this is a great vacuum. Not sure I would pay retail for it, but light weight, good suction and just love the retro styling and history of it. I am planning to order the Portapack carrying bag too, and possibly the paper bag adapter. I want to experiment with using cloth bags in it, I heard the ones from the Hoover Platinum canister will fit over the adapter. Glad Hoover still makes this one, hope they do for a long time to come. |
