I finally got around to modding my Avalir(2017 red/black)...but I was torn on whether I'd change this one or my Sentria 2. I prefer the look of this late model Avalir but prefer the handle of the Sentria ( big hands prefer larger handle). Unfortunately , the metal was cut too far and the 2 speed switch didn't cover it. But, I'm happy with the results...consider this modified!

Interesting...

So was it just a matter of wiring in the switch or were there further internal modifications needed to make it work? Also, did you cut the case of the Avalir to accommodate the switch or did you just transfer the Ultimate G Diamond's case over? I don't know that I'd ever attempt this but it's an interesting mod, nonetheless.

I used the Avalir top case....I thought of using a Diamond....but where I was doing this with a buddy helping....I didn't have that....kinda wanted the original production date still on the casing too....so I used the original. my buddy had removed the switch etc from a non working Diamond model. Took off the fuse/wire in the first photo....screwed in the circuit 'board' with 2 screws that held it on originally...plugged it in where the removed fuse/wire went !!

I never understood why Kirby put the switch there anyway, I always thought it would look better on the slanted part or on the plastic blanking piece above the foot switch.

Have to assume all vacuum owners are dumb. If you see a light switch you would think that turns something on and off. You have to dumb it down. I think they should of put it elsewhere with a sticker on how to use it like the belt lifter.
Rivcar has their speed switch on the handle grip.
