I posted about this a week or two ago. Now that the motor is running better I decided to clean up the vacuum and take some pics. It cleaned up quite well, still a few scrapes I can get with a magic eraser.
I got it a number of years ago from kijiji, but due to the bad ozone smell I didn't use it very much. I have the original woven hose and all attachments, but the woven hose leaks badly so I use that generic replacement. Based on the serial number this one was made in 1980, and I believe the AP280 is the only two speed Electrolux ever made, US or Canada.

I have a few other vacuums. A Eureka Ironsides in pretty good condition. An Electrolux Ambassador 3 in very good condition, and a Hoover Spirit in very bad condition.

Awesome machine. I did not realize Lux ever made a two speed vacuum.

The Canadian machines seem very different.

Yeah from what I've read the US/Canada machines were different until about the late 80s or early 90s. I put pics of my Ambassador 3 from 1999. Made in USA and same as the US market model I believe. This vacuum is in the best condition of the 4 I have.

The two groups merged

In the late 80s. The Canadian and US Electrolux merged and scaled down all the different machines between the two. The US 1453 was discontinued and replaced by the AP280 style which was sold as the 2100 LE in the US and it continued with several different model names including the Diplomat, Ambassador, 2000, and finally evolved into the current two models which are the Aerus Lux Classic and Aerus Lux Legacy which are still sold today. The classic does not have the automatic control shutoff full bag monitor but the legacy does. The legacy uses a plastic wand style instead of the classic 1 1/4” wand and attachment style, but essentially the base of the machines is the same body.

The AP280 was the first brand new vacuum that I ever purchased. I bought it in 1981. I actually went to an Electrolux store (rather than having a sales person come to my apartment) in Toronto wanting to buy a Super J but was told that they did not have any and that the AP280 was the replacement model. I think I paid $425 CAD.
