I've had this robot vacuum for a couple of weeks, and am just now getting around to posting about it.
The Shark AV2001 was a freebie from Amazon Vine, and it works pretty well. It has good edge detection and doesn't fall off the stairs. It's quiet and has a lot of suction, picking up a lot of dirt from the upstairs carpet. The robot utilizes AI laser vision to avoid obstacles, along with home mapping to make cleaning efficient. However, the AI is not very intelligent on this vacuum. My dad has the companion Shark app on his phone, and can tell the robot to vacuum one room, but if he tells it to do more than one room, it just doesn't work. But sending it to one room works great. The robot skips/hops along the carpeting upstairs, likely due to the fact that my carpet is medium pile. There were several moments where the robot would run for a while, get lost and then run in circles until it dies, even though my upstairs isn't all that large. It can also have trouble finding its base even in close proximity to it. Overall, this is a good machine, but ironically, can't perform one of its key selling points - being able to be told which rooms to clean. But it IS great if I just let it run in every room upstairs. |
