Good afternoon folks, something happened to my old login and I couldn't retrieve my password, so I had to re-register.

Recently I picked up an interesting Electrolux model E online, which I bought inexpensively for the motor. After replacing the bearings, I decided to keep it intact because it's unusual. It's repainted in brown hammertone, and the replacement wheels are secured with circlips. The color of the lettering on the body matches the color of the wheels. The paint is uniformly applied with no runs. It is scratched in a few places, revealing the original blue hammertone. The motor is an early one with a tall fan stack, the armature windings are, for lack of a better word, potted, and the field coils are taped. The brown power cord was shot, so I replaced it with a Rainbow replacement cord.

I'm wondering what I have, and how it got into this state. I'm not convinced it's a DIY job because I doubt a prior owner would go to the trouble of repainting the lettering. There is no Electrolux rebuild plate, and there are no labels of any kind inside or out that would suggest that Metropolitan rebuilt it. I would appreciate any insight you may be able to provide.

 It looks very nice. I can see why you decided not to use it for parts. Someone took some time and care into sprucing it up. Hope you enjoy it.

Metropolitan wasn't the only company rebuilding Electrolux for sale. Blakeman's did it too, and sold them to the vacuum cleaner shop industry. That looks like a Blakeman's rebuild.

I never heard of Blakeman's, Interesting to know. Thanks for your input. Too bad the prior owner bent the motor shaft during the bearing replacement. The motor runs with more vibration than it should, but not bad enough to be unusable. It runs at the proper speed and draws the current it should. I'll use it as-is.
