Would it be possible to put the speed switch from a Kirby Classic 1CR onto a Kirby Tradition so that it can use a Sanitronic head?
Thanks.

short answer is no. the wiring is different for one, two the casting pins that toch the speed switch are completely different. three, the lug the casting holds on is different. its not intercompatible at all

Will,

Correct. What he would really need for his machine is a Heritage 1HD 13" nozzle that has the lugs for the speed switch type his Tradition has, and then to dress it up as a Dual Sanitronic 80 nozzle.

I butchered a wiring harness to try this.
You could try to make it a 1 speed and bypass the safety switch. It can be done I've actually done it. You could use a 515- sanitronic 7 single speed and use a pre 1965 floor nozzle.
You could JB weld a pin on the nozzle to hit the hit the safety switch.
This being said it's super hard and time consuming.
I have a 6 amp royal single speed coil. This would make it so you don't have a safety switch and it would fit the sanitronic nozzle.

In addition to what Will said, the headlight cap casting on your Tradition will need to be shaved from the bottom (both sides) so it has the same angle as the contours for your 13" nozzle, for it to go down correctly.
