Hello fellow members.
So I have a Kenmore model 116 Upright that I have refurbished and I’m planning to sell to a customer, but at present I only have paper bags for it, and as we all know paper bags don’t filter near as well as Hepa bags. I know that Kenmore is no longer being manufactured by Panasonic, so some of the older parts may not be available, but I’ve also heard that some Riccar bags Will fit on the Kenmore uprights. Now I’ve already tried Riccar type B bags, but those do not fit on the bag dock, so I was wondering if there’s another Hepa bag type that would fit? Performance Reviews, if you see this, please respond; I watched many of your videos on YouTube and know that you tend to be quite knowledgeable about these things. I know that there are probably more than one Of the 116 models, so I am posting a photo of the one I have below. In case the photo doesn’t make it, I will also post the link to the auction site where I got it, and they have photos on there. Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure that takes the same HEPA type O bags that new Kenmore uprights use.

If you can find the bag type number on the data tag we should be able to tell what it relates to.

Kenmore U bags are pretty easy to find and you'll find hepa style bags in various brands

Vacuum America Clean makes some

Envirocare anti-allergen makes a similar bag but I'm unsure if their bags are truly hepa either way they're still better than paper A159 is the identifier for those

DVC makes allergen bags in Kenmore U

Be aware that Envirocare and DVC also make paper ones do check the photos before ordering to ensure you're getting the clothlike bags vs paper

You can still find Kenmore branded O bags which would work too it's all up to you.

Since you're selling the machine off I'd probably go with the Envirocare ones which come in a pack of 3 to keep costs low here's a link to those otherwise you have some other options.

Hmmm that’s strange:

If these are the same bag type as most Kenmore upright, I find it strange that I wasn’t able to fit my Simplicity bag on the dock. I do know that the simplicity ones are difficult to get on anyway, so maybe I wasn’t trying hard enough. I’ll give it another try tomorrow, and if it doesn’t work, then I’ll try those options you recommended. One thing is certain though, I don’t plan on getting the Envirocare ones, as I’ve heard too many complaints about those ones ripping, (that’s probably a more common complaint with the paper ones, but better safe than sorry). i‘ll probably try the DVC ones, if push comes to shove. Thank you so much for your reply.

Success!

I tried again the other day to get the Simplicity type B bag to fit on my Kenmore. This time, after working with it some, I was successful. So it appears that the Simplicity type B bags do fit; it was just a tricky thing to put on due to the shape of the spout on the bag dock. I am so thankful that this work because now I don’t have to go through InviroCare or some other offbrand company to get quality HEPA bags, or pay an arm and a leg for discontinued Kenmore machine bags. Besides that, the Simplicity ones seem to be higher quality, and have a cardboard cap to seal the bag when it comes time to throw it away. Thank you all for your help.

Genuine Kenmore bags are NOT discontinued. Kenmore vacuum cleaners are sold on most big box retailer's websites and even Target sells Kenmore vacuums.

I usually get the bags on eBay as that tends to be where I find the best prices.
