I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen more of this wet/dry vac shampooer crossover. I mean water filtration vacuums I suppose and Numatic George, but it doesn't take too much to add this functionality to a wet/dry vac. The water tank should be a bit larger than 1 gallon though.

Were once popular

These were actually pretty common here in the 1980s and 90s.

Sears had the Kenmore Home Cleaning System/Powerspray machines which came out around the late 70s and lasted into the late 90s/early 00s. Made by Singer/Ryobi and later, Bissell.

Bissell had the Carpet Machine in the 80s and going into the 90s the Big Green. Bissell actually still sold until recently, a water filtration vacuum and carpet cleaner called the Big Green Complete.

Montgomery Ward also had their own machines made by Douglas.

And VAX did sell their UK 3 in 1 orange colored machines through a few retailers including Sears.

Shop Vac also offered a Steam Team kit to convert any wet/dry vac to carpet/upholstery cleaning.

Some of the Kenmore Power Spray and Bissell Big Green models even included an electric powerhead for scrubbing carpets.

Most all of these machines could also be used as wet dry vacs with the proper filters and attachments. I think the reason these kinds of machines weren't more popular as all of the hoses, wands and tubing took a lot of time to setup and space to store. Once Regina came out with their upright cleaners, and especially the Hoover and Bissell upright cleaners, those really took over.

Which is kind of the same way tool on board uprights overtook canisters in popularity. It seems in the UK the opposite happened, in that canister carpet cleaners/vacuums were more popular.

It is nice to see the idea coming back though. I like those handle controls. I'd like to see Vacmaster/Cleva make a power nozzle carpet cleaner or wet/dry vac.
