I think your 501 is from the early to mid 1960s because of the rug plate design -- by about 1968 they changed that to the full wraparound version that ran through the end of production in the 1990s. ~Ben | ||

I have one almost identical to that and I agree about the approximate date of manufacture. They're great little machines. In the first photo, it appears the bag is installed upside down. I had to do that on mine when I put a paper liner in the bag. It wouldn't attach securely with the logo facing upward.
