Saw this on Google Patents today... WTF
Is this the first powerhead? It hooks to a central vac! Did Hoover ever make this?

I don't believe Hoover ever built it. There were many inventions that were patented but never built. If you want to see some 'out there' designs of vacuums, look up James Kirby patents. He invented a bagless canister vacuum in the late '40's.

Hi Kieran,

If I remember correctly, the first electric power nozzle for a canister vac was made by Whirlpool in the 1950’s. Then, both Lewyt and GE debuted their own electric power nozzles. I think the first air driven turbine carpet nozzle was offered by Sunbeam - also in the 1950’s.

Early airway is could be considered a power nozzle in the early 1920's.
