This came with a Hoover I got recently. There’s no markings on it and it fits the Hoover hose but there’s no locking button. I’m probably going to toss it as it’s worn down anyway and feels cheap.
I’m thinking it’s a generic replacement. | ||

It certainly saw a good time!
If the neck is rubber, it very well may be the dusting brush that came with some "Handivac" tools. There were others, too. It was cheaper, and had no 'pin'. It slid into the wand. I have a few . They are genuine Hoover, but a cheaper version of the attachment with the pin. The ones were are used to.

WOW It looks very well used, there are hardly any bristles left! Maybe they were sweeping the floor with the dusting attachment :) | ||

According to official Hoover documents:
Those particular dusting brushes were used in everything at different times during the 1970s. They came in taupe and white and were used with canisters and various cleaning tool kits through the early 1980s They were not with the first Portables and Swingettes. They were FIRST used in the Swingette model 409. The early Portables used the pin type brush. This slip on type was even used on the later Slimline w/ cordreel. So, there it is, folks. Not from a guru, but an expert. I personally have one of mine which came on the cardboard tool kit for my blue Handivac. | ||

Alright, I'll keep it and clean it up for now.
I have never noticed these before. I assumed they were all the swively plastic and vinyl style. It came with a Celebrity I got recently, but it's a very BOL Celebrity, the kind that came with the combo dusting/upholstery tool and not a separate dusting brush and upholstery tool. The seller mentioned they weren't sure the tools were correct but that they did fit. It also came with the larger curved floor/rug tool that I believe went to a later Constellation. So they may have both come from a Constellation. | ||

Good. It is a great tool.
I use it on carved tables, lampshades, shutters, books, etc.
It is very important to have, get, repeat,accurate information. A lot of times, mis info gets out there, nobody objects, or clears it up, and incorrect facts get spread, and believed. I have a huge box of old tools like this that I got along the way. I also brought home a box of them from my last trip to N Canton. I'll be returning again this August. I usually am there on The Hoover Company's birthday. | ||

John told me to open up my beautiful Hoover portable that he gave me. And would you lookee there, it does have one. The dusting brush without the pin. John Gregory has to be one of the nicest, kindest Hoover experts I’ve ever met. Well, to be honest, I’ve only ever met one Hoover expert and that’s him. Plus, he has the best stories. Did you know there are vacuum collectors who can’t even change the belt on their own vacuums? My friend Greg Palmer is getting ready to have John rebuild his Hoover Elite Power Drive. I think John can do anything when it comes to working on Hoover’s. I wouldn’t touch that model with a 10 foot pole. What a bitch to work on.

Cole, I hope you can replace the inner brush part.
I have many of them.I remember being in the Bag Plant #2, while it was in operation. This man, Tom, was assembling the Elites. He had this great tool used to install those flat belts. It was genius. Tom Anderson and I should have tried to acquire one. Perhaps, when I go back to Morrison's in N Canton, I'll ask Ed if he has one.
But, some people put the Convertible belts on going the wrong way. I'd hate to think someone would install one incorrectly. IF one really has trouble, simply refer to the owner's manual. It's all there. This post was last edited 07/08/2021 at 10:45 | ||
