Hello - sadly a mouse seems to have chewed the fabric bag on my 3-501. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement or how to repair? If not, I'd gladly donate the remains to anyone who wants it - I have the original box, manuals, etc.

Helene,

The model number you found on your machine means it has a three-wire cord for heavy duty commercial use. May I ask what the serial number of your 3-501 is, please?

The exact replacement part you are looking for would be 2-050240-201. Good luck!

Thank you,

Ben

Depending on how bad the original bag is, maybe it could be patched. It might not be pretty but it would be functional. If you could post some photos, maybe we could give you some ideas of how it could be fixed. There are some folks here on Vacuumland who have sewn replacement bags for antique vacuums. Maybe one of them could use your damaged bag as a pattern to to sew a new one.

Turn bag inside out with hand opposite of the inside of the bag. Pinch the hole apply super glue. Let setup about 24 hours. You can repeat the process a few times.
I had cigarette burns in my back seat of my car. I don't smoke and they came with the car.. I had 2 or 3 holes about the size of a dime and it worked.

Another idea

the Royal style H disposable bags I believe are still available...they would go inside the cloth bag and catch the dirt so the compromised cloth bag wouldn't leak.

The paper bag liner is a great idea, not knowing how much damage there is to your bag how about turning it inside out, cleaning it off, and maybe an iron-on patch and then the paper bag inside??

Is that Royal Prince 3-501 still available??

If you still happen to have that Royal Prince 3-501 laying around, I would happily be willing to give you a fair price for the vacuum, whether or not there's a bag for it.

I must admit, I've been searching for a Royal 3-501 for some time now! - I have almost every other variation of Royal Prince hand vacuum, but the Model 3-501 with the 3-prong cord has eluded me thus far!

Heck, if you legitimately have a Royal 3-501, I'd even offer to trade you one of my fully-refurbished Royal 501's with a perfectly good cloth bag for that 3-501. I'd even throw some cash your way if the vacuum itself is in good condition. (Obviously the bag is damaged.)

*Shrug* I figured I'd shoot my shot.

Nonetheless, send me an email if you ever want to part with that 3-501.

Sincerely Appreciated,
~Justin in Chicago
