This now makes my third Refurbished Elux 1205. There’s been many helpful discussions about the history of the Electrolux refurbished machines and how they made it possible for any consumer to own the high end house hold name! I’ve been informed that the refurbishment program was not without misgivings as some of the machines were sold with bad motors. This would probably explain one of the reasons why the program didn’t last. No thread hi jackin please!

love my 1205

I love my Electrolux 1205, I'm guessing mine is one of the later ones because it does not use an external cord, it uses the standard electric hose for the metal Electrolux canisters. I love the motor sound of the 1205, very pleasant sounding.

Looks nice except I hate it when they repaint the vacuums with a different color. I used to have an Electrolux model G that was refurbished by Electrolux but it had a burnt-out motor and that was one of the many reasons it was thrown out.

Surely the motors would have been electrically tested as part of the refurbishment programme? And bearings replaced?
If they'd put all that work into dismantling, cleaning, replacing trim & accessories, testing for safety, and new packaging, it doesn't make sense to have skipped the motor?

Didn't they offer a reasonable guarantee on their refurbished machines?

Motors might have been old stock or salvage pulls and got stuck in the warehouse waiting to be fitted and maybe they weren't totally foolproofed. Employee could have mistakenly grabbed a bad one thinking it was already tested out. You can definitely tell they had lots of spare parts to use up, it looks like 4 or 5 different machine's parts went into this one. I've never seen a refurbished model this new before. I never knew they still were doing them into this generation.

I've been pretty lucky with the refurbished Electrolux's that I own. This is a Refurb Old Stock unit that was never sold. The Electrolux Rebuild program ended around 1989 I believe.
