Hey Guys!

I have a Hoover floor polisher/shampooer model F4300. The problem is when I fill the solution tank it either leaks or the solution will not dispense. There is a small rubber gasket/washer inside the small screw cap at the bottom of the tank where the trigger releases the solution. I replaced this rubber gasket/washer but I am not quite sure how it is supposed to sit inside the screw cap. I am not sure if it is supposed to sit without the stem and metal nipple piercing the hole or not and in which direction the washer/gasket is supposed sit. It is sort of pyramidal in shape.

Anyone have any experience with these tanks?

Thanks!

Hey Louvac,

In case you still need the info, here is the Scrub 'n' Vac & FloorMAX's tank & handle schematic.

Thanks, Paul!

I haven't used it recently since I bought a brand new Bissell CrossWave which I love! I think I fixed it but I wonder if it is warped given the age. Since it doesn't recover water it is more of a pain in the ass than anything else. I use it without the tank when I want to scrub tile floor but I do so holding a spray bottle with cleaner in it and shoot a stream in front of it. Then I go back and use a super absorbent sponge mop to pick us the water and then rinse. Whew!! It's a great scrubber and hardwood floor polisher but that's about it. The Crosswave really does all of these things in one operation though it could benefit from having an improved or alternate brush roll that is more aggressive on tile floor or simply when you want more cleaning power. Get one! It's worth it! You may start finding them in the thrift stores.

You're welcome!

Glad you're able to use your FloorMAX for scrubbing and polishing. I think that rendition of Hoover’s Shampoo-Polisher was its last; replaced by the FloorMate series. The FloorMAX also came in 2 other models: the F5300 Deluxe with water pick-up like the Floor-A-Matic and the F2300 hard floor machine.

The Bissell Crosswave sounds like an apt performer, so that's a good deal for regular use, and the FloorMAX is a great vintage Hoover to have in your collection for periodic use and show.
