My friend Brandon sent me a brand new Kirby Avalir 2 for my recent birthday on May 20. We kept it in the box until our memorial day weekend convention. Here it is, just unboxed.

I decided to add this Kirby to the collection on display at the vacuum cleaner museum at my vacuum cleaner shop.

I invited a number of friends over to my store as well as to my house for a memorial day celebration. A convention of vacuum collectors. Here is my friend Adam, my Kirby expert, enjoying the new machine at the shop.

My very good friend, Robert, drove four hours from Quincy, Illinois to attend our vacuum collectors convention.

My friend Robert found this Hoovrah Power drive on Facebook marketplace for a song. Itís in beautiful condition. He gave it to me as a gift. Thank you Robert. It cleans so well.

Even our resident Kirby guru, Adam, had to try the Hoovrah.

My good friend Kyle drove three hours to attend. Thank you so much for doing the dusting in the formal dining room with the Modern Day central vac.

Robert was running the perfect battery powered power nozzle with the modern day central vacuum. It does such a great job and picks up everything.

Taking a break to eat a little lunch. Grilled hotdogs. Pulled pork with Red Bridges Lodge barbecue sauce. Au gratin potatoes. Sweet corn. So good.

So good. The barbecue sauce came courtesy of Hans Craig. It is the quintessential North Carolina style vinegar-based barbecue sauce. The best in this country.

My new to me Air-Way Mark 5 with the exclusive horizontal carry handle. Huge thank you to my friend Robert for finding it for me on Facebook marketplace. It was worth every penny of $50. Now that it has a HEPA disposable bag in it, it is unbeatable.

if I could drive

If I could drive I would love to have been there, maybe brought a central vacuum or two. Since I'm going to stay until Sunday for the big convention in September maybe you can make those waffles so I can try them. Waffles and pancakes are two of my favorites for breakfast. Late happy birthday Tom, May 20 is my dad's birthday as well. If I can find a way, maybe I'll bring one of my water distillers in September too. Of course you can buy distilled water but trust me, it's not the same as making it. It is by far the most refreshing water you can drink.

Not Racist. The bottle's almost gone. Aunt Jemima is no more. The next breakfast will be Aldi's "Lite" syrup.

You can still get Aunt Jemima products here, syrup and boxed pancake mix. Her image has been updated: She lost a lot of weight, her skin ls lighter, and she no longer wears a kerchief around her head.

Of all the pancake mixes I've tried, Aunt Jemima is the best -- other than home-made of course!

Here's a list of some other products that  would be labeled "politically incorrect." Some of them have disappeared, some have not.

Chiquita bananas
Eskimo pies
Mrs. Butterworth
Quaker Oats
Land o Lakes Butter
Mohawk Carpeting
Swiss Miss
Uncle Ben
Frito Bandito

I'm certain there are many others...
