I purchased an extra but damaged SEB236 powerhead to swap out some parts I need. One thing to be switched is the locking mechanism for the wand. On the broken one, the cover that holds the spring in place just slides off. However, I cannot remove the cover on the one that isn't broken so that I can swap out the part, and I didn't want to force it. Anyone know of any tricks to remove it? Note, as I did try to swap out the whole tube, but for some reason the one from my 2003 SEB236 didn't work on the SEB from 2016--the motor didn't turn on. Once I put the original back in, the motor worked fine. The brush rolls weren't interchangeable either, and the 2003 brushroll that was hardly used fits too tightly in the newer plastic housing and doesn't spin freely. Didn't realize there were so many minor changes.
