Probably a dumb question but the answer escapes me, the two-position height adjustment on the old Hoover convertibles involved a springy rear axle that you push down on to lock in the adjustment. The three and four position adjustments don’t have that, just a ratchet type wheel that adjusts the height of the rear axle (not “spring loaded”). Am I missing something on how the three and four position models work? I guess you just lift the rear wheels off the ground, set the adjustment and put it back down?

Thanks.

you CAN use your foot. It';s easier to use your hand.Sometimes, if you use your foot, you can skip an adjustment. The manual tells you to set the cleaner at shag to use tools, to ensure the nozzle is clear.
Fun fact:
The 4 height adjustment mechanism was first installed by a blind man...........flawlessly. Hoover was ahead of the 'people with disabilities ' thing.
