Does Aerus still make pigtail hoses for pre-1205 Electroluxes (F, R, G)?
Thanks.

From what I've seen out there, they haven't made them in a while.

I've been trying to find a 3rd party hose for my Model G and that is also impossible it seems.

Thankfully other collectors have helped finding hoses for my G.

Best of Luck,
Kyle

Yes they do

The above response is incorrect. Aerus does still make the pigtail hoses…look down further on the vintage page threads from my post about this in early June this year. I had a long visit with my Moms Aerus rep Rich, in Denville NJ and he verified that yes, they are still available but due to low demand aren’t stocked in the store but all you have to do is ask for one and they will place the order for you. They are special order but yes, still available. If you prefer to get a generic you can go to hescoinc.com and order one by looking on the parts page then selecting Electrolux then hoses and you’ll see one. Also you can search eBay there available.

Thank you Jo, this is wonderful news, and I just now messaged Aerus of Denville about ordering a hose. I have a recent (black pigtail) hose in good condition, but I want a spare because I use my AE, G, and L regularly.

I would love to know how many pigtail hoses this branch office orders based on this and your other post!

Best,

Joel

Joel….

That’s funny! I called Rich earlier this month about needing a reset switch for my power nozzle and he didn’t mention anything about anyone requesting the pigtail hoses but I’m sure if he gets an influx of people wanting them he might soon figure out that it was me. I believe though that you could order through any Aerus branch. I have heard on here that the Richmond, Virginia branch owner’s son restores older models so I bet they order and perhaps stock the pigtail hoses.

Unfortunately the pigtail hoses I believe no longer come with the swivel lock piece…so you’ll need to remove and keep yours and transfer it to the new hose. Those are discontinued…now why…I don’t know…it was essentially useful and fits for all models that use a pigtail hose except the model R which it must be removed for…hence why they were always a slip on part included with the hose but removable for customers purchasing to be used with a model R.

Actually…let me know if yours comes with it or not. If you don’t know what piece I’m talking about it is a plastic ring that fits on the machine end of the hose and has a section that fits in the rectangular slot below the hose opening on model L’s or in the automatic control dial channel on model F’s and G’s. It usually has a raised square on the top side.

Apparently no longer available after all

I contacted Rich via the "Contact Us" link on their home page. He replied a few days later. He said that currently his order form shows that the pigtail hoses are unavailable/discontinued (I don't recall his exact words), but that he would check with the home office to see if they still have any. Unfortunately they don't, so Rich was unable to get me one.

It's too bad that the branch offices can't work together to find any remaining stock (if any) and work with each other and us to get it into our hands. Not worth their trouble, I suppose, since cleaners that used pigtail hoses haven't been made for years. I would be surprised if there are truly no more of these hoses out there; however, locating them will be very difficult.

I wish my news was more upbeat.

Someone else probably needs it more than I do

Thanks for posting this. I will pass, as I do have a good late (black cord) pigtail hose that came with my model G. It's a bit squashed in one area but not enough to affect performance. These hoses last and last.

Repairing the squished area

I know what you mean about the squished area and that is actually repairable. What I’ve done is carefully insert the hose into a workbench vice with the long ends of the squished area against the vice paddles. Gently tighten the vice to apply some pressure to reround the coils. Do it carefully and do t apply too much pressure so as not to overdo it. I do a little at a time checking my results by loosening and if it needs more do it again tightening a little bit more each time until I’m happy with the results.

Yeah that hose on eBay is the first version of the vinyl ones by the solid color and it’s pricey too. I’ve been able to get them newer and less expensive.

I’m experimenting with taking an upright genuine hose, the one with the solid rubber machine end and adding a metal machine end via adapters, pvc pipes and hose clamps available in the plumbing department! I do a lot of remodeling so am familiar with what’s available plumbing wise so I think I will have a good solution and it seems the upright genuine hoses are plentiful and of course still in production as they come with the upright machines today.

I know there are generic options available but those seem to be quite pricey for something generic that perhaps may not last as long nor have the swiveling handle feature which makes using the genuine pigtail hoses much easier to use.
