There is currently on eBay a "Thor" hand vacuum which is the same exact machine as the much-sought-after "Kirby Utility." Does anyone know anything about the Thor?

There are six days left on the auction and it's already up to $316 and change, so it seems collectors have already gotten whipped up into a frenzy over it.

Someone copied someone

I have the Kirby Utility and the Thor is the same in every respect.
I haven't looked at any patents..I didn't even know the Thor existed but
someone copied the other.

I would love to see this rare hand vac and Kyle's Thor upright ending up in the

Vacuum Museum for all to see and enjoy when they visit. Very rare examples of any

make or model need to be there. They should be displayed together as a pair.

Scott and Fetzer must have private labeled that machine as a Thor for the Hurley Washing Machine Company. So much private labeling was going on in the 1920's.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that Miss Pupek snipes it at the last minute. I think it's called Robobidder. Has it bid $1500. at the last minute and gets the item no matter what the high bid is or was.

My friend Adam has one. It's an OK design as a hand vac (kind of heavy). It was really made with the intention of using it to blow pulverized moth crystals into furniture, as well as vacuuming of cushions and such.

I knew it would not go for peanuts. Uber rare vacs never do. Hope whoever got enjoys it.

Think collectors caught wind of what the vacuum is. Every high priced vacuum you see a much lower price sold vacuum around the same time. The only problem is I've never seen a Thor vacuum similar to this.
It may be a rarer private branded utility vacuum. It was fun to watch.

I just hope the people that buy these "uber rare" vacuums share them with the Internet at least. So many get bought up and then are never seen or heard from again.

Pretty sure the buyer is a member. There's not a lot of people outside this site that are the knowledgeable about vacs.
