Outside of the usual plastivacs, I saw these at Peddlers Mall today. First, the huge Craftsman shop vac. $20, nothing wrong with it other that some tape on the hose end, but nowhere to put it.
Second, the smaller shop vac made of a Craftsman Shop Vac motor and hose, Rainbow trolley, and a 1 gallon Thompson lube bucket. $20 too, waaay too high for this. Next, Kenmore upright. Now I was actually intrigued by this, never seen one in person before and it was only $15. I almost bought it too, then I realized 1/4 of the base plate was gone, a small chunk was taken out of the front housing part(where the base plate broke), and no belt. Had some foil tape on the attachment port too. Probably a good thing I didn't try it out. I also saw a Eureka Superlite wide track and Hoover Brush Vac, but I didn't bother to take pics of those. The Elux Super J/Golden Jubilee I saw at the Salvation army, $25 was too high for me though. Saw some other cool stuff, like a huge, very heavy 1930s camera, but that belongs in another thread. | ||

That Kenmore upright is pretty cool. Early 90s I believe, I remember seeing it in the catalog as a kid. That was Whirlpool/Kenmore's take on the Concept One/Two series. Quite a nice upright - self propelled - cord rewind - two speed (I think) - and headlight. And they kind of one upped Hoover as it has a plug in hose port right on top instead of having to use a converter tray. Too bad the base plate was broken. :(

I would have taken the Golden Jubilee. People pay 4 times more than that for them on eBay. It's a great price for it, and you can easily sell the power nozzle for more than what you paid and get the correct nozzle for it with the profit.
The Kenmore vac is a great find and would not be an issue with the baseplate. Tell them about the damage and ask if they would take less. Would be just fine to have as a decoration in the meantime until a baseplate is found or repaired. There's always a way. | ||

The hose on the one in that pic is from the Olympia One I think, and the power nozzle is from a central vacuum? | ||

Huskyvacs, Looks like a newer Golden Jubilee without the stickers and the different hose. 1975 perhaps. Mine is the 1974 50th anniversary and it has a banana style handle lol. The PN looks like Ambassador model perhaps if not central. | ||

That is NOT a Golden J. It's a Super J. Easily distinguishable by the plastic trim on the top cover neing slightly longer to acccomodate the longer body introduced with the Super J and it's larger, more powerful motor.
Also, that is NOT a central vac nozzle. And both hoses are period correct during the Super J's run. This was brought into Canada during the run of the Canadian model AP200, from 1976 to 1978, as production was halted at Electrolux's Pointe Claire, Quebec manufacturing plant due to a workers strike. I am going to guess this would have happened sometime in 1977. As such, Super J's were pulled from American Electrolux branches to be brought into Canada and sold. Since these vacuums came from the branches and not the Old Greenwich, Connecticut manufacturing plant, the accessories that came with each vacuum varied, and sometimes mismatched parts from earlier models and earlier variants of the Super J were included. That explains why you see 2 hoses and 2 different instruction manuals. They also had some models with the powerhead with a chrome hood like American models had. I personally found one dumped at a Goodwill with the gold colored hose and chrome powrrhead, so I know for this for a fact. The brown hose Hoover300 found with the Golden J would have been period correct for the Olympia One. So there you have it. A little bit of Canadian Electrolux history. Any Canadians out there that collect vacuums and spot a Super J for sale should grab it QUICK and hold onto it, as they would certainly be on the rare side. Same for the Grand Marquise which was sold here for a brief period unsuccessfully during the late 80s/early 90s. Rob | ||

Kirbylux77 Here is my 1974 Golden Jubilee... Don't mind the PN as I have it apart for a cleaning and stuck it together for this photo! I too pick up all canisters by Electrolux :) :D | ||
