Yes!Sadly. Was typical with that style. If you can find a fan it looks similar to Elite & is identified by spot of red paint in center.Interesting 90s find but Hoovers best brooms were 60s-70s with dirt in paper bag and not hitting fan. |

I would bet that the blind sided fan is stripped out and thus causing the fan to hit on the back side of the housing. You will need a replacement fan. Note that to take these apart requires cleaning all the caked in dirt down the 4 holes right directly under the dirt cup after it is removed from the machine. This and the dirt cup seal are two weaknesses of these machines along with the rather narrow fan housing dirt path. Yours does have the deluxe wheel nozzle so that is a plus. Fans can be found occasionally on Ebay and I do have a source to a few extras if needed.
These were indeed very similar to a Regina Electrikbroom but Hoover didn't get the dirt cup sealing and actuation part nearly as well as Regina did and the Regina's had a properly designed deeper cut fan that the shaft went right through with tightening nut at the end. Hoover had a blind sided plastic fan that screwed onto the shaft directly. After a while the heat and pressure would loosen the fan and would eventually strip it on the shaft causing the issue yours is experiencing. Still if you can get a hold of a fan this can be fixed for a time. |
