Hi All

Does anyone have a spare foam filter to fit a Hoover S1126 (or portapower) please ?

I obtained a Portapower the other day, but the filter just crumbled to bits in my hands. Apparently they were known for doing this. The only place I can find one on the net is in the USA, and I cant order one from that far away.

So does anyone know where I can obtain one from, IN THE UK please ?

Thanks !
Derek

There isn't much to the exhaust filters on these. You could buy some foam sheeting of a similar density and use that. Here in the US they sell sheets of window A/C filter material that would work for this.

Or what I usually do is buy sheets of the white MERV type filter material and cut that to fit. This will give you better filtration.

I'm in the US but I think you could order similar materials in the UK. I know Amazon sells sheets of the white material.

If you're talking about the black filter material - look for sheets of aquarium filter material on aliexpress or some similar sites wherever you can find it in bulk. Make sure the coarseness to the pores is right so you don't suffocate the motor.

There is no new filters being made for these vacuums and any NOS packs will just be a waste of money, as they will have the same age related problem.

Well, the Portapower IS still in production after all these years, so I am sure the filters are still being made, such as in the link below.

But I wouldn't bother paying $7 for what is essentially a generic piece of foam. LOL

Hi Guys.

Thanks for the help so far. It has been suggested that aquarium filter would do the job, but locally here in the UK I dont think thats obtainable. I have found two versions on amazon and wondered which of these ones would be suitable...

www.amazon.co.uk/BENGKUI-...

Or this one...

www.amazon.co.uk/Universa...

No doubt buying either would mean it being sent from China ! If anyone based in the UK could tell me of a specific make of Aquarium filter, then I would prefer to try getting some that way.

Can anyone else help ~?

Thanks !
