I wouldn't think the transmission on the Kirby would hold up with commercial use. They are just plastic and nylon hybrid gears and cogs. They strip out just in a residential environment after so many years.
Kirby actually made commercial vacuums back in the day, the ComVac, but I never owned or seen one outside of photographs so not sure how well they actually did. I have glue down commercial pile in my basement and the Kirby just destroys it, the agitation and the suction turns the glue to dust and it just goes *crunch crunch crunch* when you walk over it after vacuuming. Keep in mind though the glue and carpet on mine is about 40 years old so that is expected, but not sure what it would do to newer material. |

The Kirby didn't "destroy" the carpet glue--AGE did-the Kirby just dislodged the aged glue through the carpet!Have seen this in other places with glue down carpets. |
