A crapload of patents for rare vacuums!
Here is the first household Birtman vacuum, the ad is from a newspaper in bisbee AZ. This vacuum was NOT made by Bisbee Improvement, but appears to be sold privately through them.

Another EARLY Birtman Vac, they made several similar models, but the only surviving model of the line is the Bee Model D. Shown next to the patent are the pics of the D from the GRPM.

Grouping these three together as I can’t say I know what any of them are, or if any examples are still around. If you know anything about any of them, please speak up!

I’m almost positive this is what became the first Apex, the resemblance can be seen in the 2nd patent. Come to think of it, that first Kirby patent may be an improvement on this...

Kieran,

I think patent number 1,347,166 was for the Electric Vac-U-Ette (1925-1928).

Last one. This is clearly an Apex, and it is signed to Orr like the vac In post 12, so the vac in post 12 is definitely a predecessor to the Apex.

The following are patents from George Clements. William J Clements also has a lot of patents to his name, I can only assume he was George's son. It's fascinating how these were really vacuum cleaner guys, in every sense of the word. I have yet to compile a list of William's patents. (Shame their company was inherited by imbeciles.)

Also, Clements sued Eureka, Kirby, and Regina for patent infringement and won all three suits, if I recall correctly. I believe most suits were for having a two-piece fan case / nozzle, which my Eureka model 10 infringes lol. Possibly one is for having the dirt pocket in the bag.

I don't think that's an electric vacuette. Patent is circa 1915. It looks like the grasshopper or the kirby utility vacuum.
