Today's "Aspirateur du jour" is one of my favorite Electroluxes, the cute and dainty Model S (1956). Because it was an economy model, many households had one. I can remember seeing quite a few of them in my childhood. I found this one in near-mint condition, including the original carton.

Excellent find.

I'll bet it's lighter than an Olympia for example.  It even has onboard tool storage.

Model S

I have been using a model S for upstairs cleaning duty the past 12 years and it never misses a beat. It has a genuine Electrolux hose replacement that I found in the garbage but is otherwise still all original. It's size and light weight make it great for doing the stairs too!

Ours...

Was purchased by my Grandmother new in the 50s then given to my Mother when she married in 1960 and then it became the basement vac when she got a Model L with a power nozzle. It is still in the basement today and my Dad used it for cleaning his wood workshop for many years snd I used it for the cars and the basement and basement stairs. Sadly, my Dad just passed away unexpectedly last month so it may not get much more use unless I visit Mom and clean the basement for her.

I’ve always enjoyed this simple super lightweight model and it is the very first vacuum cleaner I ever used as just a toddler! My Dad has home movies of me playing with the combination carpet and floor tool with the single wand attached, just perfect for my short toddler size!
