I was browsing eBay and I found this really weird vacuum that looks like a hoover on a stick. It says it is a vacuum bag cleaner but I have never heard of such a thing. Can someone tell me what this is?

It is

....an early 1930s hoover service station dust bag vacuum cleaning machine powered by an adapted model 700/25/50. Very rare I should think. Clearly hoover ltd thought it best to fit the 541 type brush roller to the assembly.

Yup. Some members here have one. Hoover refurbishment businesses would have them to clean out vacuum bags. Really handy for a collector that refurbishes a lot of vacuums with corduroy shake-out bags.

Not that I would pay $1,000 for one, I doubt that they are worth that much.

Also that vacuum shop is my local shop, lol I've been in there as a kid but not anytime since. Parents had all their vacuums fixed there. They have a cute mural on the side of the building.

Ooh a vac shop selling dirt devils! My favorite! Well not any longer, but used to be means there's a good chance they still have new parts and vacuums that were unsold.

Well the first screenshot is from I think 2007, the others are from 2017 so they likely still do sell them - if not - have parts. They just recently started that eBay store it seems. They have a ton of used vacs in there though under $30 for the budget minded from what I seen in Google images from customers. I got a Eureka Ironsides at Goodwill that had one of their stickers on it from 2008, so I assume if they were still fixing 30 year old vacuums then they still do now.

An $18.69 vacuum! I can't wait to peruse the stock.

One has to admire a vacuum cleaner store that's still in business. They are becoming a vanishing species.

I also like that mural and the retro 1970s awning. Plus the 80s 45 degree cut boards on the front. I would like to stop in there and see what it's like inside.

I've had a couple of Hoover Bag Cleaners come and go over the years, and I still have one that came from a vac shop that moved to a new location. The owner gave it to me; he said he hadn't used it in many years. It's indispensable for thoroughly cleaning cloth bags. Here are a couple of photos, and a link to a short video.

While they are exceedingly rare, I think the eBay seller shown above is being rather over-optimistic about its value.

Funny enough an antique thrift store in omaha Nebraska had two of these just like the ebay ad for sale for a long time. Too big for me to take in at the time

For all of your answers. They were very helpful in helping me understand what this odd looking vacuum is. Special thanks to electrolux137 for the video. Apparently that vacuum shop has been an eBay member since 2005. Hey Huskyvacs, can you tell me where that vacuum shop is located because I would love to go there.

Their website with address is here: gncvacshop.com/...

If you look up their name in Google reviews you can see some pics customers took inside the store. It's a built out addition to an old house, so its got that classic mom and pop shop feel to it. I thought it was cool when I was a kid, too.
