has been sent out into the world.
Due to mail and a cyber issue, there were "glitches"
I had an artist/museum instructor/grant writer look at it. He was impressed.
We've dedicated it to the late Ruth Hollander.
I want to thank everyone who helped in any way. Hope the mail is speedy.
Kim Jo did a stellar job.
So, check your mailboxes.

I think the next issue will spotlight Eureka.

I took pages and pages of Alex's notes, combined

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
with official Electrolux papers and wrote that 'spotlight'.
I'll gather info similarly about Eureka and write another spotlight for the next one. I believe my good friend, John Lucia, has great history on that. plus, I'll contact the company, as I did for "Lux".
Feel free to send info, etc..
Will be "fun", no doubt.

Hi John,
Just making sure you sent mine out because I had gotten the mail and it’s not there and considering you’re only two hours away it should’ve been here yesterday.

Making sure I sent it.

It was sent out, with all of the others, 70 of them. I don't know what the NY mail is like, but, recently, my mail has been awful. My niece's November birthday card got to her Xmas eve.

It has been pretty good here lately, sent out a few packages within the last couple of weeks and they arrived a little earlier than expected. Then again it’s possible that your post office might have a shortage in employees due to covid. Oh well was just asking 🙂

Will look forward to my copy. Did you send it via email, if so I did not get it.

Got my copy . . .

My copy came in today, Feb. 2nd. That's reasonably good time considering we are both in PA. Kudos to you, John, that you got them out before the big snowstorm came your way.

That nice red Hoover Model 29 on the cover helped to brighten my morning after being outdoors cleaning snow. The Model 29 is one of my all-time favorites. I wish I had one in decent condition. However, I like to peruse all the old ads for any vac.

I leafed through the newsletter to get a sense of its content. I am impressed. I will give it a thorough read later in the day. Congrats on a job well done.

Joe

I'll send yours again tomorrow , from the college. The file is very large, and it took several times to get it to the printer. It should be better and faster through the college.

Thanks, to everyone else, too. This newsletter is traveling to all parts of the country. Speed is not in abundance at the moment.

Post# 438424 , Reply# 20   2/9/2021 at 16:36 (1,164 days old) by Electroluxxxx (……)

I did get mine yesterday and had a moment to actually read it. I was led to believe that it was supposed to “spotlight” a major company, like the last issue being hoover, the whole newsletter was about hoover. I was kind of surprised to see that there were only 2 pages devoted to electrolux and the front cover was well... a HOOVER. There were a couple of things I noticed and this is only for future reference, Axel is to be spelled Axel and most of the article spells it axle as in wheel axle, another is that the model F was the first electrolux to debut a power nozzle not the G. If there is going to be a thread looking for information and a huge deal being made about spotlighting companies I do believe that at least 75% of the newsletter should revolve around that. There were tons of Electrolux ads that actually were Christmas themed that are all over the internet as well as other ads and info. Not to mention that to get correct info on the company as a whole, the best place to go is electrolux itself and not Aerus since Aerus bought the vacuum cleaner division and they and their dealers/distributors cannot answer the history as a whole. There was a lot of information (factual) to be exact given in a previous thread that should have been used to cover the beginning of the company including some history on Axel Wenner-Gren to the current state of the company as that’s what I’m led to believe a newsletter is supposed to be. Not picking anything here but giving constructive feedback so that maybe the next newsletter could stick to the task of being about said company. There are a lot of valuable members here who have and hold valuable information regarding some of these companies and maybe instead of ignoring those because you don’t like them you could ask to see what they have to offer. We all are here for the same hobby and should be able to at least get along for the creating of a newsletter that members pay for.
Other than that, the graphics were great and it was at least worth reading. John pease’s tribute was absolutely beautiful. A big Thank you for putting the effort and hard work in and if and when you would like to do rexair, let’s be at least civil and please come to me as I can provide more than enough information and photos etc... to pack that edition.

Well, you were 'led to believe'

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
The last issue had a 'spotlight' on The Hoover Co, the buildings, brief history, advance, etc. This one has a 'spotlight' on Electrolux. We did, indeed, have an 'issue' devoted to Electrolux. I never knew that 75% was the amount of devotion to a company "Sticking to the task"? I didn't ask people because I 'didn't like them"? 'Pack the edition"? Really?
At the beginning, I announced the compilation for the Holiday issue. "Feel free at add photos, etc". Who contributed? a Few did. And, I approached others, like John Pease, who DID write a great article, as well as Tania.
As far as not liking someone. are you kidding me?
The next issue will 'spotlight' Eureka. I will ask others with far more knowledge than I have for input. I contacted Alex Taber for this last one.
I'm glad you liked it and were able to 'read it'.
But, would you care to be responsible for the NEXT issue?
I see, now, why nobody really wants to do these. They are truly a labor of love. I've done these FOR The V.C.C.C. They are a lot of work, (not complaining) before anyone attacks me for that.
I trust the next issue will be very nice,as well. I'm not sure how many pages will feature Eureka yest. As far as things "non-Hoover", you'll notice that there are numerous vac companies included in this past issue: Christmas ads, the 12Days of Christmas spoof, etc. I told Kim Jo that we must include other companies. And, she did that.
We'll mention the passing of Greg Fildes in the next issue, not a dedication, however.
I hope the rest of you enjoy your issue.
Thanks,
John

No need to get all defensive, nobody was attacking you in any fashion, it was friendly suggestion, if you took it another way than I do apologize but... If you would like help with the next issue, I would be more than happy to civilly devote some of my time to do as much as I can to help you and obviously complaining about it won't really get anyone anywhere now will it? I totally get that they are a lot of work and don't need to experience the V.C.C.C newsletter to understand that as I have done similar things myself. All I was suggesting is that it would have been nice to see more on the company that you were spotlighting on, as it was presented in the previous newsletter thread PUBLICLY aimed at Alex Taber that most of the newsletter would be that. When someone "spotlights" on a topic, it means to illuminate or point direction to that topic and therefore the topic was to be Electrolux. Thank you for your time to reply and your hard work as it was great but again, there really is no need to get defensive.

Worth waiting for!!

Well, I am a little late to this party, having received my Newsletter last week, but the Newsletter was indeed worth waiting for! The copy, pics, and layout were great, and I especially enjoyed the tributes to the incomparable Ruth Hollander. She indeed represented the finest this Club has included. So, please accept my Kudos to our Editor and Graphic Designer for a job well done.

As for negative comments relative to the length of time it has taken to receive some Newsletters, I would think that those people would comprehend that, once mailed, it is solely in the hands of the US Post Office to be responsible for actual delivery. Unkind and attacking comments on a few peoples' parts only serves to establish their lack of either understanding or character, though I'm certain neither were a huge surprise to the rest of us reading them. "Haters gotta hate".

With thanks,
RBinOC

A few things...

1. I wonder how I could get on the mailing list for this newsletter.

2. In Electroluxxxx’s comments...Mike you suggest not contacting Aerus for information on Electrolux because they bought the Electrolux vacuum cleaner division so the dealers are not the original ones. This statement is incorrect. First the article discusses the US Electrolux company it seems, not the Swedish Electrolux company I gather feom the mention of the model F and G. ( Inhave not seen the article) Today’s Aerus dealers were always the United States and Canadian Electrolux dealers and the company name was changed to Aerus when Electrolux of Sweden wanted to buy back the name to sell their Eureka made Electrolux branded vacuum cleaner products here in the US. But that created a problem as there was the US Electrolux vacuum cleaners already. Aerus as a company did not exist at all before then, the name Aerus was created to rename the US Electrolux company in the deal where Electrolux of Sweden bought the rights to the US Electrolux name from the US Electrolux company which completed in 2003. This essentially left the US Electrolux company without a name and that’s when the new name Aerus was “created” from inception as the new name for the US Electrolux company. Certain rights for a Aerus to use the Electrolux and Lux brand names were part of the deal and that’s why we see the company referencing the Electrolux name on store fronts and products such as the current genuine bags. So Aerus IS the Original US Electrolux company which actually was started when the Swede who was making Electrolux in Sweden brought his machines here and sold them in New York. After importing the machines and a ship sank with an entire load of the vacs, they built a factory here in the US and then eventually it was broken off into its own company separated from its Swedish roots. Then the two companies were completely separate but both running under the same name in different countries and the products evolved and developed differently and eventually Eureka bought the Swedish Electrolux division. Swedish Electrolux didn’t want to sell their products in the us so there was never an issue but when they decided to after importing their other appliances to the US, that’s when there became a problem of two different Electrolux named companies in the same country both selling vacuum cleaners which was creating a lot of confusion and even after the name change people thought the Swedish Eureka Electrolux was the old US Electrolux as the US company did a poor job of publicizing the name change and frankly allowing the name to be sold was detrimental to the company as a whole to this day as many still think the company is gone and been turned into the Eureka made products which coincidentally are no longer sold here in the US once again. So in theory, Aerus could (and should, in my opinion) get the rights back to the Electrolux name for vacuum cleaners here in the US.

3. I noticed a correction that the Model F was the first Electrolux to offer a power nozzle. This is true and I learned that here in this website from other members as for a long time so thought it was the G as well. But Charles Lester corrected me showing a photo of a color matched model F power nozzle with the entire machine. But I’m surprised that this information was not well enough researched to be correct before publishing the newsletter as posts here do talk about that. Perhaps when a particular brand is to be printed in a newsletter the writer can call upon expert members for that brand to contribute or proof the article so the printed word ends up correct. Though I know some may think what they know is correct but could indeed be incorrect as I have been on a few occasions.

Jon

with exception of Alex T. New address..
It was utterly amazing that some got to California before N Carolina.
But, it was all in the hands of The U.S. Postal Service. Sorry for any delays.
Bills are coming late, etc.
So...... now, we'll begin preparing for the next one. (crazy, I know, but.) Perhaps they'll reach mailboxes on Halloween.
So, Eureka will be our next 'spotlight', not sure how many pages, but, that's the plan.
So, feel free to send photos, articles, tips, recipes, 'wish list', 'sale item', etc.
Thanks, VCCC members.
Oh, we just added 4 new members. There will be more about them shortly.
