I know the problem is a failed triac. If I cannot obtain an identical replacement is it possible to substitute with another type? Thanks.

Its not available as a separate part, its a part of the motor. It would have to be identical, as they are specific to the motor variation, as well as which series of electronics is in the rest of the machine. Its best to just look for a complete motor from a donor machine, or bite the bullet and just install a brand new one. This machine is new enough that it would still be worth it to do.

Why not just pop on over to a computer/electronics repair shop and have them replace the resistor? All you need is the chip, or similar spec, and a soldering gun.

That part is literally $1. It's not proprietary, it's just bog standard electronic parts.

But husky! You can't do that! iTs nOt aN oRiGiNaL pArT!

I'm joking, of course. The part husky linked is literally exactly the same part from exactly the same manufacturer. The best part about it is, like husky says, it's a $1 part. Surely you can afford to gamble a buck.

lol the old triac even looks like it has skid marks on it from when it let out the magic smoke.

Yeah I noticed Miele likes to go with STMicroelectronics for a lot of their vacuum parts.

That part failed in a rather explosive way for sure.
